I was just reading on Reddit that apparently "gathering water" is based on RNG 3 seconds after every action Cag does, so you can time Blizzards by waiting for an action, waiting 3 seconds, then casting blizzard.

I don't know how speed settings exactly work but that sounds in the ballpark. Aside from the 5th turn, non tsunami cagnazzo ult+ ATB is something like .8 seconds base, so if speed setting 1 is 1/3 as fast as speed 3 that's about right. He has 25% chance to instantly swap once the ATB fills. But I couldn't keep track of the times plus my strat, and I like to pause my game to think in any event so I couldn't use it effectively.
I drop all these to 2 and count slower. It gives me time to react.
Under haste it's almost normal speed so I approach it like a normal paced fight.
Think Cagnazzo will be the first and only fight i'm gonna straight up skip, lowest I got him was 1% before he blasted my last living member with waterga, fight is so stupid with RNG surge when he spams it 24/7 and you run out of abilities to stop it.
Finally got around to trying Ult+
Most annoying one so far for sure. My setup
Spoiler: show
RW Stoneskin
Note, I accidentally brought Blizzaga instead of Blizzaja on Exdeath from my trial mage setup. Ate 2 Tsunamis near the end due to mistiming but luckily I had Magic Breakdown and Cleansing Strike on. First time I ever felt like I ran out of Full Break too early. Maybe should've brought Lifesiphon on Ramza instead. Lost 1 medal for action, which was to be expected because I kept meleeing on Yuna to get her SB up since she had useless one time use abilities on.
Finally beat cagnazzo but that was the most annoying fight since Sanctuary Keeper forever ago. This fight was more about the rng not deciding to screw you over than anything else.
Someone posted a rather interesting idea on reddit to cheese this fight and other 1 stam fights that don't use damaging attacks on turn 1:
https://www.reddit.com/r/FFRecordKee...ther_u_fights/
Basically, enter fight, everyone attack the boss then flee before it has the chance to damage you, repeat about 30 times until everyone has full SB bars then wreck the boss with full sb bars. Works on this one since its first 2 turns are always haste > slow unless it decides to charge tsunami, and if you do take damage you can s/l.
This sort of tactic has always been possible with mithril revive, but being able to do it for about 30 stam instead of 1-2 mithril is a much better deal.
I can't believe nobody thought of that yet lol
inc patch that wipes SB gauges if you retreat.
it's all over the front page of ffrk reddit now so... yea. wouldnt be surprised to see some corrective action
It's only viable on 1 stam fights and I'd be curious to see if anyone spends money/mythril to continue those fights. I can't imagine it costs DeNa much.
