    Bonus Battles
Scarmiglione of the Four Fiends +
    • Scarmiglione (assisted by Skulnant)
      HP: ~???
Target Score: Defeat Scarmiglione without being KO'd, Exploit Scarmiglione's weakness to fire attacks, Exploit Scarmiglione's weakness to holy attacks.
      • Weak: Fire & Holy
      • Absorbs: Ice
      • Resists: None
      • Vulnerabilities: Slow Abilities & Stop Abilities (Both), Silence Abilities (Scarmiglione)
    • Scarmiglione
      HP: ~115000
Target Score: Defeat Scarmiglione without being KO'd, Exploit Scarmiglione's weakness to holy attacks.
      • Weak: Fire & Holy
      • Absorbs: Ice & Earth
      • Vulnerabilities: Slow Abilities & Stop Abilities

    Commentary
Scarmiglione (P1): You can use Reflect/Carbuncle to bounce back his Thunders. Otherwise use AoEs to quickly clear the Skulnants. You may want to bring Shellga to mitigate the Thunder damage.
Scarmiglione (P2): Highly recommend not using fire attacks here since you don’t want to get hit by Gas at all. Use holy attacks for a quick win.

    Recommended abilities: Shellga, Protectga, Carbuncle
    Recommended RW: SG/SS2

    TOTAL medals = 33 medals
, meaning you can only lose a max of 5 medals to get Mastery.

Captain of the Baron Guards ++
    Baigon
    HP: ~??? (Body & Arms)
    Target Score:
    • Defeat Baigon without being KO'd.
    • Exploit Baigon's weakness to ice attacks.
    • Defeat Baigon before the arms explode.

    Weak: Ice
    Resists: Fire & Lightning
Vulnerabilities: Poison Abilities & Blind Abilities & Slow Abilities & Stop Abilities & Silence Abilities & Sap Abilities (Both), Petrify Abilities (Arms)

    Commentary
    • When Baigan is defeated while Arms are alive, they will Self-Destruct.
    • When the Arms are under Stop status, they cannot Self-Destruct.

First and foremost you are required to defeat Baigan without triggering the arms’ self-destructs. You can either kill all 3 simultaneously, or kill Baigan shortly after killing the arms.

Stop Rumba deserves a special mention here. As mentioned in point 2, the Arms cannot Self-Destruct if they are stopped. This allows you to just focus on the main body. Get cheesed, Baigan! DO NOTE, though, you will lose medals for failing the “no self destruct” Target Score. However, if you manage to keep other medals intact, you will still master. In fact you cannot afford to lose any more medals if you’re going for this strategy.

    Recommended abilities: Stop Rumba
    Recommended RW: SG/SS2

Total medals = 18, meaning you can only afford to lose 3 medals to get Mastery.

    King of Baron +++
    Odin
    HP: ~???
    Target Score:
    • Defeat Odin without being KO'd.
    • Hit Odin with lightning attacks when he is weak to lightning.
    • Reduce Odin's ATK.

Weak: Lightning (only when sword is raised)
    Absorbs: None
    Resist: Poison
    Null: None
    Vulnerabilities: Slow

    Commentary
    • Odin will occasionally raise his sword, preparing for Zantetsuken. He becomes weak to lightning during this time.
    • Zantetsuken will be cast two turns after Odin has raised his sword.

Unlike in IV, Zantetsuken is not interrupted after being hit by lightning spells. So you are forced to mitigate it instead. Lunatic High is recommended here, and with Slowga, you’ll be at an advantage.

Recommended abilities: Tempo Flurry/Slowga, Power Breakdown, Protectga
Recommended RW: SG/SS2, Lunatic High, etc

Total medals = 18, meaning you can only afford to lose 3 medals to get Mastery.

    Resentment (U)
    Geryon
    HP: ~265000
    Target Score:
    • Exploit Geryon's weakness to lightning attacks when it is weak to lightning.
    • Exploit Geryon's weakness to ice attacks when it is weak to ice.
    • Reduce Geryon's MAG.

    Weak: Lightning (P1), Ice & Water (P2), None (P3)
    Resists: Everything Else (P1 & P2), Everything (P3)
    Vulnerabilities: None

    Abilities

    ► Phase 1

Attack: Deal physical damage to one target.
Tsunami: Deal heavy water damage to all targets.
Recover: Restore a large amount of HP to one target.
Gas: Poison, Silence, Blind, Sleep all targets.
    Curse: Reduce one target’s stats.
Maelstrom: Deal massive damage to all targets, proportional to HP.
    Cursed Elegy: Slow all targets.

    ► Phase 2

Inferno: Deal massive fire damage to one target.
Inferno: Deal heavy fire damage to all targets.
Firaga: Deal fire damage three times to one target (random).
Gas: Poison, Silence, Blind, Sleep all targets.
    Curse: Reduce one target’s stats.
Maelstrom: Deal massive damage to all targets, proportional to HP.
    Cursed Elegy: Slow all targets.

    ► Phase 3

Tornado: Deal damage to one target, proportional to HP.
Inferno: Deal heavy fire damage to all targets.
Lightning: Deal heavy lightning damage to all targets.
Gas: Poison, Silence, Blind, Sleep all targets.
    Curse: Reduce one target’s stats.
Maelstrom: Deal massive damage to all targets, proportional to HP.
    Stone Touch: Doom one target.
    Cursed Elegy: Slow all targets.

    Commentary
    • Geryon uses Maelstrom when he enters a new phase.
    • Geryon enters phase 2 at ~66% HP; enters phase 3 at ~33% HP

Most of Geryon’s attacks are magic so plan your mitigation around those (Shellga, Magic Breakdown, Full Break, Break Fever, etc). Having AoE heals is great here so you can heal right after Maelstrom during a phase change. The only thing that will annoy you is the AoE Slow that he does as a counter.

Recommended abilities: Shellga, Magic Breakdown, Full Break, Break Fever
Recommended RW: SG/SS2, Scream, Mighty Guard (VIII)

Total medals = 18, meaning you can only afford to lose 3 medals to get Mastery.

Cagnazzo of the Four Fiends (U+)
    Cagnazzo
    HP: ~345000
    Target Score:
    • Exploit Cagnazzo's weakness to ice attacks when it is weak to ice.
    • Hit Cagnazzo with lightning attacks when it is Preparing Tsunami.
    • Reduce Cagnazzo's MAG.

Weak: Ice (Normal), Lightning (Preparing Tsunami), None (Defending)
    Absorbs: Water
Resists: Fire (Normal & Preparing Tsunami), Everything Else (Defending)
Null: Lightning (Normal), Ice (Preparing Tsunami)
Vulnerabilities: Poison Abilities & Blind Abilities

    Abilities

    ► Normal

Attack: Deal physical damage and Poison one target.
    Slow: Slow all targets.
    Sleep: Sleep all targets.
Haste: Grant Haste to one target.
Watera: Deal moderate water damage to all targets.
Watera: Deal moderate water damage three times to one target (random).
Waterga: Deal heavy water damage to one target.
Stop (Counter): Stop one target. (trigger: physical attacks)

    ► Preparing Tsunami

Attack: Deal physical damage to one target.
Tsunami: Deal heavy non-elemental damage to all targets. (ignores RES)
Haste: Grant Haste to one target.
Watera: Deal moderate water damage to all targets.
Watera: Deal moderate water damage three times to one target (random).
Waterga: Deal heavy water damage to one target.
Stop (Counter): Stop one target. (trigger: physical attacks)

    ► Defending

Attack: Deal physical damage to one target.
Heal: Restore a small amount of HP to the target.
    Slow: Slow all targets.
    Sleep: Sleep all targets.
Stop (Counter): Stop one target. (trigger: physical attacks)

    Commentary
    • To break Cagnazzo out of Preparing Tsunami state, he has to be hit by lightning attacks three times. A lightning attack with multiple hits (Lightning’s SSB, Rinioa’s Angel Wing Bolt, etc) counts as one time.
    • When Cagnazzo uses “Heal” while in Defending state, it goes out of Defending state.

Carbuncle (or Runic Blade) and Poison breaks this fight. Carbuncle is highly recommended here because it will bounce back Cagnazzo’s counter Stops and also his single target Waters.

Other than that, having lightning attacks on three separate characters is recommended. You only have 1 turn after Cagnazzo starts preparing Tsunami to break him out of that state.

Having a Hastega SB is also recommended because AoE Slows can be very annoying.

Other than that, tank up your party’s magic defense!

Recommended abilities: Carbuncle, Venom Buster, Banish Raid/Dispel, Shellga, Break Fever/Full Break, Magic Breakdown
Recommended RW: SG/SS2, Mighty Guard (VIII), Scream, Runic

Total medals = 18, meaning you can only afford to lose 3 medals to get Mastery.

I don't know what you're talking about. Luneth was my MVP from the time they released his MC1 until SBB's, MC2's and outrageous damage output from U/U+ put him on the bench.

Also, I'm in serious need of IV melee weapons but I don't have any mythil to do any pulls. Here's hoping I can get something from my 100 gem pulls.

    Yeah, I meant Palom.

    Cid
    Relm
    Palom

Relm isn't entirely useless, but its 3 characters I never planned to use regularly nor have pulled for. Just a waste of eggs for Exp RM.

Hyper Jump just shoulda been classified as a super soul break - it's crazy-powerful. (although I'm sure enough of us pulled so many of them that they are 7 starred)

I like the utility that Machinist 5* gives to Cid, but even when he was 65 I always felt Vaan with Windburst was more powerful than Cid. Now he just tromps the competition. Only time I use Cid is when I need the extra utility from his 5* Machinist. Vaan usually caps damage on Windburst with just Armor Breakdown/Flames of War. Cid comes close to capped damage, but usually can't hit 9999 even with the former 2 plus Hyper Jump buffs.

I have a general question; does equipment that increases resistance against Death reduce the damage you take from self-damaging skills and abilities? Since those accessories reduce the damage you take from, for example, Gravija. Those accessories could have a further niche with Sanguine Blade and Tellah's SB.

Probably not although I've read that Desch's upcoming HotE+1 SB can have the self damage portion reduced by buffs like Wall. Not sure if that's true though but it still doesn't make the SB itself worth using imo.

Took Cloud through solo (for Blade Beam mastery exp) on auto-battle in the first few rounds of the event. I don't know what monster was doing it, but there were more than a few times I glanced over and Cloud was suddenly at ~20% health. Just a FYI if auto-battling.
