I'm still completely fine with the 1080p monitor I use, so I'll be rocking out with a 1070 more then likely.

Counting upgrades I've done to them, it's like $6500-7000 in instruments (not counting ones I've sold or broken). Your math is slightly off.
Close enough!
more news on vendor cards. Prices seem a little higher than they should be. I might end up passing on the 1080 and waiting for 1080ti or hope in december amd can compete and lower prices.

Its december for the AMD cards? I thought they weren't that far behind?
Edit: I'm reading that its June 1st press conference for an announcement.
$620 for the Strix and $650 for the EVGA SC is what I was semi expecting. Remember, this is not taking into consideration any mail in rebate offers, sale prices, etc. I'll expect to pay around $550 give or take $25 for the MSI TF or EVGA SC when a deal pops up. Also, that Galax HoF looks sick.
I can't wait to get a 1080 so I can bump my minecraft draw distance resolution up from 8 to 9.
To say nothing of the fps people will pull in CS:GO
Also, all the Zotac designs are pretty fucking cool.
I need more 1440p frames for 144hz.
1080p has been saturated by flagships for a few generations now. 680 should still be good for 1080p 60hz
Not for any recent AAA games unless you turn settings way down. A 970 is already failing to hit 60 fps at 1080p if you go for high/Ultra settings in games.
omgggggg tell me MSI is doing the blower style aero I came thank youuuuuuuuuuuuuu
1070 Embargo lifts tomorrow.
Damn they hit that NDA removal hard.
tldr is the 1070 reference card gives extremely similar performance as a 980ti or fury x for a lot less money. ( it's a little bit better than either ).
Damn, hardocp OC'd the 1070 and got over very nice gains.
The non reference cards are gonna be very impressive.
Think I'm going for the 1070. I run 1440p and don't plan to go any higher any time soon, if ever, and saving that extra $300-500 (1080, ti, titan) is an extremely attractive proposition looking at those numbers.
Now if I can offload these 780s on Craigslist or something that would cover at least half the cost on their own. I'd say for a set of two MSI 780s, $150-200 is still more than fair.
