This makes it even easier to wait for AMD to drop their lineup. I'm very interested to see how much 980ti's will drop to on the used market (roughly $415-$450 right now). While I'm not sure if the 1080 would be enough (for me) for 4k gaming, two 1070s or something from AMD's new lineup I'm sure will surpass by far my previous 390x crossfire. I'm very excited.

While this isn't perfect, it may be the best way to come out the most positive $ wise. Sell the 980ti now and get a holdover card until 1080s are reasonably priced. Once they are, sell the holdover and you now have the most powerful single gpu solution while most likely spending the least.

It's not going to be perfect, but snag something like a used 970, 290(x), etc for around $200. Reddit is a great place to buy used gpus (from reputable sellers). I sell the majority of my gpus on Amazon. I'll put them on Craigslist as well. I'm not so anal about it so I I have a R9 270x as a holdover for when I sell my 2nd 390x. I've actually ran a few games at 4k acceptable framerates. If it gets too bad I'll go down to 1440p or 1080p.

It's already slightly flooded. The good news is prices are favoring both sides currently. But yes, soon it will favor the buyer much more than the seller. Depending just how far south the 980ti goes, I may double up on those.

probably $330 for 490 then unless amd throws a curveball. good if youre on a budget, we'll see how it stacks up compared to a 1070 (probably not too good but at that price point youd compare a 1070 to a 490 anyway). what is the most interesting thing here is that the 480 uses normal GDDR5 memory, and after all the commotion that AMD fans were making about HBM being on all Polaris cards

polaris is a lot more exciting in terms of the future of consoles rather than PCs imo

This news will probably tank the used market for 970/980 and probably the 390(x). Today is a huge win for everyone in my opinion.

This definitely has the potential to make things interesting if the actual performance turns out to be good. Could likely make a system running high/max 1080p in the $500 range, and like Prothescar said it could definitely make consoles interesting if the .5 ones end up using this range of GPUs.
