Finally has a name
I'm still a little bummed that Amazon's lawyers vetoed Gear Knobs. Grand Tour is a good name though, it will be fun to see them travel all over the place again.
Yep, I'm definitely looking forward to them landing in X place, buying 3 vehicles and then going on a road trip (and pissing the locals off). Maybe they'll even allow the them to swear. Not sure what Amazon's rules are.
They can definitely swear but I think they'll keep it toned down to continue the broad appeal that made TG so popular.
It looks like they are dumping most of the in-studio stuff from what I gathered from various other articles.
I was curious what the show would look like. I don't mind them lowering the amount of reviews they were doing and substituting it with more onsite shenanigans/races
The star in car part always felt like wasted time with very few exceptions. Could do without that.
I loved it. Especially when they'd get an F1 driver on.
F1 drivers were good and so were some who were funny (ryan reynolds for example) but on the whole a lot of them I didnt give a fuck about and now when I rewatch I just FF through.
I find myself skipping some. Like fucking will.i.am, he's a fucking loser.
I hate him as a person and as an artist. He's the full douche package.
There's a few stars that end up on the show that doesn't seem at all care about being on there. The best ones are when Jeremy leads off with a question or 2 and then it just becomes 1 long verbal sparring back and forth with lots of jokes, and especially if the star actually wants to be there.
I do hope they can somehow squeeze in a news section... they are selling tickets afterall so there must be a local studio of where they are at the time. Always one of my favourites with the 3 talking about various motoring related news, or showing clips of stupid drivers, or pictures of stupid signs, and everything.
The "crossing this country" or "going to the arctic in a truck" were always the better ones. Star in a car were only interesting when they got a new vehicle and did like 12 at once.
The challenge segments were always great too. My favorite was when they tried to make a convertible mini-van and ended up setting that car wash on fire.
Don't forget about the lorry episode! Would love for them to drive actual lorries again! (which was something really different and all 3 were terrible at it, the best type of challenge).
And/or do more America trips. Gahhhh I can't wait lol. I'll need to go home and rewatch some to settle the anticipation.
While there were some stars in a car that were obviously "The BBC says have them on because some promotional circuit bullshit", without it you would not have moments like Michael Gambon going around a turn like a lunatic to the degree needed to name the thing after him.
However, as the boys no longer have the test track, I doubt we'll see it or the power laps board.
(Though, if Amazon does manage to base them out of a new track, it would be interesting to see them revisit some cars to help populate the board, because things won't be right without a "Koeniggggsenisseggsegnignigsegigisegccx2 with the Top Gear wing" marker.)
Logo for the show was posted on Jeremy's twitter
Not bad looking to be honest.
Also tickets to the audience portion are on sale and shoots in Johannesburg. I guess the idea is that the audience portion will be in a different location every week.
Show filmed its first Episode (Studio Segment) in Johannesburg
From the Final Gear Forums
Looks like it should be ready... soonish? Considering all filming is apparently done
