    TabletXI

I know mobileffxi is coming, which makes my eyes bleed, but I've been working on a way to mobilexi while featuring the full client without limitations.

The best way at this point is a Surface Pro. They're compact and light weight, can run max graphics at 1080p at 30fps easily. The down side is the cost, they're really expensive to buy new. You can pick up a first or second gen off ebay for a few hundred, but it's still on the pricey side for just xi on the go.

I started looking into chinese alternatives. I didn't have very high hopes for a long time because what they were producing was pretty crappy with low specs, or at the same price point of the surface.

Then the Intel Atom x5-Z8300 CPU came out, a 2w quad core cpu. And tablets started hitting hte market, expensive at first, but have now dropped significantly. You can pick up the Teclast x80 for $80, or a half dozen other models for a similar price.

I bought the Teclast X80, it was the cheapest. It only had dual boot android options. That didn't interest me, and it ate up a good portion of the 32gb ROM drive. I managed to wipe everything and install Windows 10 n(n means no extra crap) and have 19.2gb available. Installed the drivers, and fired up POL. That legendary POL music was music to my ears. After 6 hours, ffxi was installed, updated, and ready to go.

FPS was on the low side, until I tweaked the graphics settings(windows set it to save power even when plugged in by default). Getting a solid 25-30fps at 1280x800, the game was great. I was very pleased with the output. I have a bluetooth controller on the way, so no more keyboard nonsense.

I'll just out this out there:

I used my Surface 2 to play FF14 and it ran fine on medium settings. No lag or anything .

I use my surface pro 2 as well, but it's a real expensive option especially if you plan to use it as a secondary machine for not much else.
