inb4 obligatory Brady Games guide War/Whm heckling.
But honestly, it deserves it.

Does this mean CoMRA isn't gonna be a thing? Because I'm quite happy without it
I actually wonder if this means there'll be some job rebalancing due to this feature. In the original job system plenty of skills were shared between jobs because you couldn't change them after the fact. If you can pick another there will be some slots greyed out. Also Espers...
That seems to make sense. 6 characters, 12 jobs.
It was kind of lame that you could theoretically completely lock yourself off from using certain abilities, but at the same time that was also kind of the charm of the system. Like, you consciously make the decision to have no characters with black magic, or you choose to use certain jobs and not others, it ends up being part of the self-imposed challenge and gives a good amount of replayability. (Think kind of like SCC's from FFT, in a way.)
Don't get me wrong, I'm a hardcore completionist, and this makes me A LOT more happy than it makes me sad sad, so I'm very happy to see that change.
I feel more like you'll be one job or the other instead of a main/sub type system. But we'll see.
Hope it's a main/sub system to make this even more of a FFXI offline game lol
It'll be "two jobs at once". You simply pick a second job and unlock its LB for more upgrades.
Looks like Popeye in that preview image.
Watching that trailer reminded me how much heart and soul went into this game and why I love Ivalice so damn much.
Best FF released on the PS4 so far, easily.
For someone who never played IZJS, would the jobs roughly be:
Bushi = Samurai
Shikari = Ninja
Foebreaker = Beastmaster/Geomancer
Uhlan = Dragoon/Dark Knight
The others seem self explanatory.
You have to reconsider all the optimal job combinations now with the ability to use Subjobs. I promptly deleted the write-up I had planned to use for the re-release when they announced subjobs. :/
I'm pretty hyped for this. I've held off replaying this game a couple years because I knew this was coming.
Hyped, but no PC release has me like a sad panda. Really hope they get it out faster than they did for FFXHD.
Same, considering buying a ps4 and getting this as my first game for it.
Though I would prefer PC, SE's track record of length of time between PS and PC releases is utter shit. If you wanna play any mainline FF soon (aside from MMO) it's gotta be console =/ With this, XV, and KH3 (which might never come to PC at all) and VII remake on the way I feel it's time to pony up for a PS4.
You should get a PS4 for Nier: Automata and Horizon Zero Dawn. Then down the line Kingdom Hearts III. Not to say you shouldn't get a PS4 for this game though.
How can this game look so good after all these years? Can't wait to replay this, haven't really bothered much with the original IZJS so it'll be a fresh experience anyway.
The game already had an art style that very easily improves with the resolution bump. Emulation already made the game look quite good even when being hampered by outdated tech and lower res textures.
Case in point this SS I posted on here a couple years ago playing IZJS on PCSX2.
Nier is on PC though. If I wanted it I would have got it already XD (I might play it someday but not interested enough to pick it up at launch price). I heard good things about HZD but haven't really looked into it.
Yeah, XII looks great emulated. I started playing through a Zodiac run about a year ago and then the news of this dropped and was like eh, fuck it I'll just wait. Judging by the trailer, I'm not sure the game will look that much better than it did already on PC emulation. But the new mechanics alone should be worth the buy.
I can't wait to play this game with surround sound. It's one of my favorite soundtracks.
I know they said they're remastering the audio, but I hope that includes the dialogue. The original release sounds like it was recorded in a tin can.
