Yea the scratchy voice audio was a travesty, especially given the talent on display.

Man Im so excited. It releases the day before my birthday and I haven't played since the year it came out. I don't remember much other than the story so don't know jobs or zodiac or builds or anything and it's going to be like playing a brand new game for my birthday.
the voiceover quality in the trailers is noticeably better than the original release. the voice tracks were compressed to hell and back for the PS2. i assume it was so they could fit the game on a single-layer disc, as a lot of consoles, especially the older ones, had trouble reading dual-layer discs.
Yea, my biggest problem with the game was how horribly mixed the audio sounded. It was a huge downgrade from FFX's audio quality.
God damn, when they said re-recorded, they went for the full monty. I know some people will prefer the original (and I know the option is there) but I like what I'm hearing so far.
Edit:
This is a comparison video. It's funny because there are aspects of both I really enjoy. The flute (I think, maybe it's a different woodwind) and the bass are definitely more pronounced in the remake, but some of the I think the strings are absolutely more pronounced in the original. I'm sure this will cause all sorts of internet debate.
It'll be like the FFX remake. Some songs I'll get used to being remade, some I never will (fucking Besaid...)
Can't compare both, i feel the difference between XII OG and remaster is minimal, where X was way different just listen to X OG vs remaster battle theme
OG
Remaster
It's like a new song all together
Or fight vs seymour
OG
Remaster
The difference is MUCH MORE noticible
If you combine FFX/HD for each of those songs, it sounds amazing:
Good chuckle actually:
Wasn't expecting #2.
So hyped. It's one of my fav ff's. I just replayed the OG on the ps2 like a year or so ago and dropped 100 hours into it. It looks surprisingly good for a PS2 title. I forgot how much they got out of that console.
I know it's a bit old but I'll never understand the complaints here. Sure, they should've included an option from the beginning but the remastered score is amazing. I love every single track more than the originals, even the infamous Besaid and Boss Themes.
Guess it boils down to nostalgia and me preferring real instruments over synthesized audio. XII really seems to be going for a "safer" approach in most tracks but it still sounds better than it used to. Glad they have an option right away this time though.
So Dreamy @_@.
Am I the only one that thinks FFXII's soundtrack is extremely lackluster? Not to say it's BAD, but nothing in the soundtrack would make me go out of my way to listen on youtube or my mp3 player. Granted, it probably has the best iteration of Battle on the Big Bridge and the Final Fantasy theme.
I agree to an extent, they're so many amazing and brilliant standalone tracks on there but personally I think they're alot of forgettable tracks which makes it not hold a candle to other FF soundtracks when comparing overall. Then again I think Harvest from FFV is good (so bad that it's GOOD kind of good) so take my opinion with a pinch of salt
The tracks are good, just not overly memorable. My far and away favorite track in 12 is the main theme:
It's the only one Uematsu created. He's a damn genius.
Unfortunately tracks you hear when you're 20 will never seem as memorable as the ones you heard when you were 10.
