Hmm..........not liking this particular change at all...when engaging an enemy, you no longer auto-run to be in range of your selected attack. You have to physically move yourself into range of the mob now. That's a total PITA, since I'm so used to simply hitting X twice to target/engage enemies, then letting go of the analog stick while my lead character automatically ran towards it.

Vsync + triple buffering should fix that.

This changes as soon as you get Penelo in Party and can turn on gambits. Turn it on for Vaan and you will auto-run as soon as you select an attack target.

30 bucks is a good deal if you got nothing else to play.

I'm loving this renake, but the zodiac job system is giving me anxiety. I'm so afraid of fucking up that I'm not doing anything lol. Should I just do shit or will me playing around with it really fuck me up later in the game? Atm I'm giving everyone jobs based on their original roles/weapons, but now I'm low on mages and need to make some decisions...

You're not really going to be fucked, just might miss on some good job combos and get too many duplicate licences or maybe lock out some quickenings. Still if you're worried just look up some useful combinations

How do quickenings work? I can only unlock 3 of them per character or so the game says, but there are different versions of the same ones, do they count towards the allotted 3? Sould I just unlock the highest one? I didn't use them at all when I played last time on PS2.

You can only unlock 3 Quickening panels per character across both boards. When you unlock 1, all other quickening panels will be upgraded to that character's tier 2 Quickening, then tier 3. Each board has 4 panels. The reason this is important is that some boards have special licenses hidden behind Quickening panels (similar to Espers) that you miss out on completely if you just take any quickening panel that you see. For example, taking the 4th quickening panel on the Knight board gives you access to a 390HP license and Revive (and Excalipur which is just a meme) whereas 1, 2, and 3 get you nothing. If you were to also have, say, Archer on that same character, you would be able to get access to Cura and Raise by taking the first Quickening panel on Archer.

tl;dr only take Quickening panels that have other licenses hidden behind them if you want the stuff that is behind them. Just like you have to choose who gets which Espers based on what abilities you want that character to have.

Reddit has a guide on job compositions, quickenings, and espers to maximize your group. The game may become more trivial however because some combos are overpowered. Also, there are better weapons for mostly everyone that are not their default or beginning role weapons. Balthier being terrible with gun is an example.

    THere's this too: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets...gid=1059552339

lets you experiment with different combos and provides at a glance comparisons of what you get for espers/quickenings

I find guns in general to be pretty awful for anyone who isnt heavily invested into support jobs since they deal fixed damage

That google docs is great, I unlocked some quickenings that are worthless, but at least it's nothing too serious.

On another note, does the order in jobs matter? IS WHM/MCH the same as MCH/WHM? Cause when I unlocked the second jobs some characters went 1st/2nd and others 2nd/1st for no apparent reason.

Is there any way to track some of the more insane achievements? Like exploring all the maps?

Been replaying the Steam version over this month, I'm still amazed at how good the english localization is.

Last time I played (2096) I left the game right after Ridorana pharos, I didn't know why but I didn't feel like finishing the game... and It just happened again, I've finished the pharos and I've lost my will to continue, and I think it's because I go right back to the Great crystal to get Ultima/chests and it's a damn chore, plus, the story at this point feels kind of meh.

It's weird because I enjoyed the previous 40 hours very much.

i'm currently stopped post-pharos as well (and i've stopped on or around there on prior replays), i do intend to finish it but there's part of me that wants to finish everything else before capping off the story and i just don't have time for that right now.
