The more I read about it, the more I fear Kojima has become a Japanese David Cage.

Sounds like a kojima game.
No one is replaying his games ad nauseam. They come for the weird anime shit and fun times, and put it on the shelf until the next one comes along. At least, that's how I enjoy them, and I'm an avid MGS fan.

I usually prefer to have some gameplay in my games, which this seems to have forgotten. Especially when you're paying full AAA prices
Anyone who considers Monster Hunter egg quests actual gameplay needs to have their head examined, and this basically sounds like 30+ hours of that with some whacked out Kojima cutscenes.
30 hours of whacked out Kojima cutscenes already sounds like a great time.
Add some walking and pissing in there for muh immersion and this sounds like a fun weekend. When you expect "gameplay" all I can think everyone wants is to shoota the gun, whereas I actually hope this is something interesting and different. I'll give it an honest shakedown if it's not good but I hope there's something special and different going on at least.
Are you implying that 30+ hours of fetch quests and tripping over pebbles is your idea of a good time?
From what I saw, even the fetch quests can be a little different than what you're describing.
And I'm hearing its 50+ hours. Some people even at 60 hours.

Seeing some of these comments here about things that don't bother me at all makes me realize what I really want in a video game. Give me an Everest Simulator or something like that.
People are complaining that it's a walking simulator in a world where train/truck/farming/space simulators make fucking bank is well, odd. And this one has an anime plot!

Do you play those games? Cause I sure as fuck don't.
All reviews say you basically want to avoid combat at all costs aside the forced combat moments.
Also, I don't like how the world building aspect is shared between others who have the game. Sounds like the later you play the game the less building, etc... you will have to do as everyone else already did you dirty work.
From my understanding, you can disconnect from the network and go it alone if you want.
Something most Kojima games have had is choice. I wonder what happens if you don't avoid combat and take a genocidal route. Personally, I'm down for the experience. I've found I like unique stories over gameplay anymore. Doesn't mean a game can't have both, but I'm willing to sideline any expectations to try something new.
I don't care for any of those simulator type games so this will be an easy skip for me if it's basically 90% fetch quests. And for reviews to say avoid combat, that sounds terrible.
Yeah I may skip this for a bit and grab Luigi's Mansion
This game might not be for a lot of people, but I'm not turned away by what I've seen thus far.

I'm going to wait to see what people say after playing it for a while. This game isn't a day one for me anymore.
