So, me and my co-worker got into this slightly heated debate about who would be able to beat Brienne of Tarth, I told him that Bronn of the Blackwater would most likely win due to his fighting style and lack of training from a lord or Highborn. He's a current favorite of mine and I'd like to see what characters other people like and why.

Was the case a decade ago, but the forum has been sub-sectioned thoroughly enough that these days, General is more for some specific legacy threads and anything that doesn't fit into another section.

I think Brienne and Bronn are the top tier in Westeros. Not sure how Daarios stacks up.

These would be like S tier. I think two-handed Jaime would have been here along with Eddard Stark.

I guess there's a "very good" tier below these two where the likes of Grey Worm, Jon Snow, the Hound and the Mountain reside. The A+ tier. Maybe Tormund is here too.

Given how battles and plot armour play out I suspect the majority of "battle leader" nobles would be like A. I'd stick the majority of the lords of the smaller houses here. I think broken Jaime is here too.

I'd give an A- to Pod and Tyrion. I remember Tyrion killing a guy with a shield to protect Catelyn and the whole axe-to-leg at the mud-gate. How did Pod do against that Bolton soldier when Brienne finally finds Sansa again?

Trained soldiers and Free-folk are like B-tier. Untrained commoners are probably shit-tier.

I don't know where to put Arya, Jaqen H'ghar or the Sand Snakes. This lot are like rogues/assassins not straight up fencing duellists.

Clarity edit:

S Tier: Brienne, Bronn maybe Daarios.
A+ Tier: Grey Worm, Jon Snow, The Mountain, The Hound, Tormund.
A Tier: 1-handed Jaime, Lords of minor houses (the ones that are old enough to fight).
A- Tier: Podrick, Tyrion.
B : Trained soldiers, Free Folk.
Shit Tier: Peasants.

I'm just going off how I feel from the TV show here...

i feel like we over rate bronn as a combatant because he is such a gr8 character. if he were really that trill a swordsman he prob wouldnt have been a sellsword in whatever bumfuck inn catelyn found tyrion.
