wtfux seriously? L isn't short for lamar.
Mia Mia is pretty cute tho
The Light casting looks stupid. I'm ok with others.
I don't have a problem with any of it in this case.
There was already a live action Death Note made in Japan with a Japanese cast, so just doing it again in the US with a Japanese cast is.. it's like Broadchurch/Gracepoint all over again, "why fucking bother?".
And L kind of role isn't one a black dude generally gets, I dunno the actor and his range, but I look forward to seeing if he does well with it.
I just hope they stick "What's Up, People?" somewhere in it in the background.
So long as they don't go Hollywood and feel the urge to throw black stereotypes all over him, I think I'll be okay with the casting (And this is Netflix so I have more faith in them than I have in Hollywood). Its confusing to me as to why they would take this route, it makes no sense, and I wouldn't be surprised if it was simply done to stir publicity for the movie through controversy due to it being a relatively niche franchise... but whatever, If he does the roll good I'll get over it despite thinking its an odd choice.
The Light though... wat. I need to see him in character because that dude look nothing like Light.
They recently added Willem Dafoe as Ryuk the Shinigami's Voice, so I guess Ryuk is gonna be CGI again. Honestly tho I think Willem Dafoe could probably pass as Ryuk with just some makeup
I could see him doing it either way.
Good choice, first one I'm not confused about so far.
I loved the anime and tohught it was really well made but a live action? I feel like I have never seen a live action movie do well - only blemish what the anime created.
Don't have too much faith in them. They got the same writer as the one for fan4stic... in fact I wonder if that had something to do with this route. Guy also did Lazarus effect which was highly meh outside of Olivia Wilde. Granted final screenplays get changed and directors change things etc but I'd still remain cautiously optimistic
Trailer for the new Japanese Death Note movie
well i see misa misa in that trailer, but are light and L dead already in this, or those guys supposed to be older versions of them?
Looking up it says it takes place 10 years after the last movie so yeah they dead. Guess 2 new people inherit the will of Light and L and play mind games over a bunch of death notes that drop in the human world. Also fucking Matsuda is back.
yeah 6 death notes hrm..
Netflix released a trailer today. Coming August 25th.
Watched the trailer earlier today. Looks like it could be alright.
People in the comments already complaining about white washing...
