I really tried to like it but yeah, they didn't get much right.

Decent enough if you're never seen the anime or read the manga, but like the others said, they changed a LOT.
A good comparison would probably be the remake of Old Boy compared to the original.
Light was such a pussy
Mia Mia was too smart
L was too violent
I liked it still, wish was more final destination killings and stuff. Sucks it was a movie and not a series I guess, could only fit so much into it.
i never saw the cartoon but i thought this was okay but that is because im a sucker for adam wingard and for the entire first half i thought he was in on the joke but then the movie was actually taking itself seriously and i was like dangit.
Ryuk was pretty awesome...
Everything else, shite
Story was bad, acting was bad, Light was horribly miscast
What on Earth did I just watch.
Fucking terrible
yeah this movie is fucking awful, couldn't even finish it
So, I wasn't really paying attention to the promo material. I thought they were doing this as a Netflix TV series.
Shit, even the Japanese production had the sense to split things into two films, not one.

Sequel in the planning stages. Project was pitched as a trilogy. Sequel will happen if "enough" watch the film.
For those of you who did watch it? How far along the Death Note plot does it go? Does it even stay along a similar trajectory?
Basically, I'm just asking if they got to L's death. And if they're planning on doing a sequel, that just means that M and N are going to be introduced and what was a shitty movie is only going to get worse.
Spoiler: show
The more I think about it, the worse the movie actually seems compared to when I watched it.
