You wouldn't know that though because you've demonstrably never picked up a book nor educated yourself on the matter. Let me guess, overweight housewife?

No way to load new games, no sale. I can do this shit with a Raspberry Pi for around the same price.. And have way more options. $35 for the board, $5-6 for an enclosure, find an existing power supply, and use an old PS controller/SD card you probably have laying about. Emulate almost everything. pre PS2/Xbox.

They really didn't consider existing options. I hope they don't go around C&Ding everything people have released to emulate the hardware/games because they want this to sell.

You really think, in this day and age, that people wont have figured out a way to load games 48 hours after release?

This will go really well with my mini SNES-cased Raspberri Pi emulation station I'm setting up.

It is worth mentioning that the price does include a USB NES controller.

The game selection is good and the look is perfect (it's literally a miniature NES) but the $60 price point is a bit too much for my liking. I think $40 would be a bit more in line for this.

I could have bought an 11 pull and have 1000 gems left over, but all I got was this silly title.

I don't think that's a USB controller. Looks like Nintendo's proprietary connector that the Wii mote has. Only assuming based on this bit:
It connects to your TV via HDMI and even comes with that classic NES pad, which can also be used with your Wii or Wii U. You can also use a Classic Controller or Classic Controller Pro on the system for two-player action, but the new NES pad will be sold separately for $9.99 as well - just in case you like consistency.

I don't know if you keep up with the Nintendo hax scene but it seems unlikely it'll be that quick. If the device has no wifi, no card slot, USB, etc. It may prove difficult.

Shoot, youre right. I assumed it would have plugged into the gamecube connector usb ports on the Wii U. Damn.

It's not like theyre adding a new console OS here. NES stuff has been cracked for close to 20 years on emulation. I guess I could be wrong though and Nintendo has added layers of security around 25+ year old games.

Disney Adventures was alright. Ghostbusters was broken (buy the ghost alarm then sell for more than what you paid for), and Roger Rabbit was an abortion of a game. Tetris i'm amazed is not on there. Might be due to Ubisoft.

Unless they're improving the games or something, just a cash grab to try to get you to pay a big price tag for something you bought already in the past.

Aside from pure nostalgia, no reason to buy this over emulate ever

I agree with everyone else, aside the nostalgia of having the actual NES console looking machine, I don't see the point as emulation is better and easier

I see a lot of old classics on that list of games, and one I never had the opportunity to play (looking at you, Star Tropics) I'll probably get this.

Though I AM disappointed there's one classic that isn't on the list. Blaster Master

Hopefully more games can be added in the future.

Feels more like a nostalgia piece for my man cave. Which for $60 is quite pricey if I'm buying it just for show.

Honestly I'm going to assume people might buy this just to gut it out and stick a raspberry Pi in there.

The average consumer doesn't know emulation is so prefect for them.

I'm willing to bet this is what Nintendo is banking on. We, on gaming, entertainment, w/e sites know the deal. But most consumers probably have no clue how to emulate. Cash grab? Absolutely. Bad idea? If so, Nintendo (and anyone else doing anything remotely similar) wouldn't bother with it. Profit is to be made, and they will.
