Marathoned this shit last night, was way better than I expected it to be. Especially considering the sheer amount of child actors. The music instantly won me over, although it seemed to cease to exist after the first 4 episodes.
Was I the only person irked when nancy kept screaming at steve to leave? Their entire plan centered around this monster liking blood and she is screaming for this dude who's face is a bloody pulp to essentially go away on his own. Really if anything making him leave had the best chance to fuck up their plan.
I also felt like the entire interaction between the cop and the suits was just really weak and flew in the face of how the organization had come to be shown as in all the previous episodes.
Anyway, I enjoyed it more than I thought, really skeptical of how good the sequel will turn out however. Dunno if anyone here has seen Beyond the Black Rainbow but Stranger Things reminded me of it a ton as they dealt with very similar subject matter.
We went over this earlier, but the reason the organization didn't just off the cop was cause he told them he gave all the stuff he knew on them (it was a lot) to a reporter. They didn't want to risk it all getting out. Also, they're teenagers, and Steve was a dick.

I'm aware of the reason, I just think it is a really shitty, pathetic one. Hell, I think them letting him live after he first broke into the facility was absolutely unrealistic as well.
Even if he did have a NY times friend it would have been nothing more than "Hey bro, they are doin crazy experiments on telekinetic children up here and opening up gateways or some shit." Which is the same exact thing that the parent of jane accused them of sans the gate. There was NOTHING stopping them from forcing this guy to OD on his drank and pills and label him an attention seeking conspiracy theorist copycat who had a broke down after his first real case in a town he literally fled to after the death of his daughter destroyed him.
Edit: Even the other 2 cops in his own department thought he was nuts and weren't aware of a single thing going on other than some pisshead kid coming in with a broken arm who they weren't listening to anyway.
In general, I'd say making a cop disappear is a lot riskier than some random Joe. There's also the potential benefit of having the local PD in your pocket if they're in on the secret. And this being the 80's, even if they did want to stage a quick death that seemed legit, info gathering would probably take a bit.
The pictures don't really show any spoilers... I made a few passes by the police station and there were a bunch of Trailers that said HOLLYWOOD-TRUCK on the side of them. I'm going to drive by again tomorrow on my lunch break and see if I can get some pictures.
I also reached out to a friend who knows all the cops in my county to see if he can get me a hookup.
I'll plug in my dashcam tomorrow when I drive by for better footage. I had some asshole in a giant fucking truck behind me so I couldn't drive slow when I took this.
