Hopefully with the tone of that trailer it means they’re going heavy on the horror.

Season 4 Cast Additions
Amybeth McNulty (Anne with an E), Myles Truitt (Queen Sugar), Regina Ting Chen (Queen of the South), & Grace Van Dien (Charlie Says)https://deadline.com/2021/06/strange...en-1234772041/McNulty plays Vickie, a cool, fast-talking band nerd who catches the eye of one of our beloved heroes.
Truitt portrays Patrick, a Hawkins basketball star who has friends, talent, and a good life…until shocking events send his life spiraling out of control.
Chen is Ms. Kelly, a popular guidance counselor who cares deeply for her students—especially those struggling the most.
Van Dien plays Chrissy, Hawkins’ High lead cheerleader and the most popular girl in school. But beneath the seemingly perfect surface lies a dark secret.
Just an itching feeling that one of those 4 will turn out to be another number.
Probably the one with a dark secret.
2022
Man they will need to film season 5 so fast, or the kids won't be kids at all anymore, lol.
Well, this trailer implies a rift existed before the Hawkins lab was built, potentially naturally. They could end this group with S4 and then either do a S5 with a new cast or just do a spinoff story without involving this cast. I think a side story entry detailing the 50/60's would be pretty slick. Like those MotW X-Files episodes that had Arthur Dales.
But yeah, at some point they're either going to need a time skip or not use this cast if they want to continue telling this story past a S5.
I don't foresee them continuing this story without the cast. They're going to have a solid conclusion for the cast before it ends. I can totally see them doing a prequel spinoff for 60's era or something, or finally going back to the other (numbered) kids and doing an epilogue story of sorts, but my bet is S5 is "The end" for the major story and its cast.
Thing is that part of the charm is they're clearly kids dealing with this serious shit, and now that they're very clearly growing up it's going to lose some of its "charm" that comes from that. I don't think it'll ruin the story by any means, but think they should try to S5 asap.
Area 51 vibes? Nevada desert?
They better get moving on S5 then, otherwise its going to be Stranger Things: The College Years and that didnt work well for Saved By The Bell.
So basically 3 more seasons and 2 of them this year? Sweet
I love when a series ends in a planned, orderly fashion.
I don't believe for a second that they had the story all planned out for 4-5 seasons lol
When they did season 1? Doubtful. But after how big a success it was it isn't that unbelievable to have a 4 season roadmap planned
