Edit: Nevermind, I guess I just have trouble imagining Sonic in Nights' jester outfit. It just seems like it doesnt fit at all - let alone just as obscure fan favorite series such as SMB and JSR.

It's truly amazing how many batshit crazy and straight up stupid decisions are undone with a minute and a half opening video introducing exactly what everyone's been asking for this entire time.

That opening animation is what I've been wanting in a TV series for a long time. It looks stellar.. Tyson Hesse worked on it. Same person that worked on the cover art for many of the Archie comics.

The special stages are like a mix of Sonic 2 and CD.. and a full port of the 3 special stages it looks like. I played the shit out of those on the old S&K cart. Hype! I'm so happy this is leaving the past 23 years behind and is pulling out everything it had from the old cartridge days. Even the comics, man..

It's more than nostalgia too. It is smart development not trying to reinvent what works and emphasizing the strengths of the original concept without Sonichu and edgelords.

When I played Sonic Mania at the 25th anniversary at San Diego Comic Con last year, I won't lie I left with a tear in my eye because of the massive nostalgia factor. It felt like a proper Sonic game.

According to Rata, Sega is giving those who preordered on PC Sonic 1 for free to make up for the delay. A $5 value!

I plan on buying this for Switch. 1) I need switch games. 2) I'm fiending to play a platformer when traveling.
Idk if i can convince anyone to play competitive locally with me but at least people can watch me play

As of right now, no. But they may produce something in the future. There is box art out there claimed to be official, but given that we've seen nothing announced concerning it and everything pointing to digital download only, it's either coming later or not at all. Probably aim for the holidays. (a release alongside Forces?)

If true, that box art is so close to the original Genesis title that it hurts. I want it. I didn't grab the CE because it's just a download code as well. Seems silly. I don't need more stuff to sit around really, and that's all it is.
