Metal Gear Survive (PC/PS4/XB1) 4-Player Co-Op Zombie Stabber - Feb 2018
Direct Sequel to MGS5:GV, Kinda
Metal Gear Survive picks up from the ending of Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes, to an alternate timeline caused by unexplained wormholes forming in the sky. Players find themselves on distorted desert landscapes full of massive half-formed structures, living biological threats, and the remains of a once strong military force now litter the landscape.
In a struggle to stay alive on this harsh terrain filled with deadly creatures, soldiers who were previously on Motherbase now must work cooperatively in order to survive. Metal Gear Survive continues the pedigree of METAL GEAR SOLID V’s highly praised gameplay design, with a unique blend of stealth and co-op play mechanics. Players can strategically manage massive threats with the help of four-player online cooperative play. New weaponry will also be introduced to combat charging creatures and lethal environments as well.
Obligitory #FuckKonami.
If they think that this will win fans back over then ohhhh boy are they even more stupid than i had first thought, a remake/master of 1-Snake Eater(not all just one would be nice) a game doing shit from real Big Boss persective in parallel with 5, hell even a sequal going on from 4 i'd of been at least intrigued about, any of these i'd gave a shot without Kojima at the helm but this? they can get well and truely fucked.
Kojima's vision of Metal Gear has always been brilliant to me. For the most part the plot is grounded, has meaning, and political shit. But he knew it was a game so he through in random Sci-fi shit to make the game fun and have some of the greatest boss battles in gaming history because of it.
This is just Sci-fi shit with shit thrown onto it.
Feels like the last dying cough of any Japanese game series is to turn it into a shooter of some less serious nature, usually also by giving it to a low-tier American dev studio nobody has ever heard of. Silent Hill's last actual game was one of these (Book of Memories, 2012) so let that sink in for a bit.
I dunno if it's better or worse than making new entries in a series that's been absent for over a decade.... mobile games. Looking at you, Capcom.
lol.... people love the lore, history and story telling of a MGS. Lets not pretend konami executives know how to make a game.
Feel like they are just like "well we got this amazing ass fox engine... now what?"
That's pretty much what I see out of this. Zombies or not, I'd be all in for four player co-op with MGSV gameplay and controls. That said, zero faith in Konami and I'd rather see it fail and the series die out than to have them butcher it.
Not to mention is this essentially going to be Left 4 Dead? Because Raiden has his own thing and series essentially..Snake is apparently absent for the most part..how the hell they gonna tie any story together with anything? I'm not largely cynical about certain series off the bat but something taking place after MGSV I expect to be an HD Remaster of Metal Gear. >.>

This is an alternate timeline. It begins right at the end of of the cutscene of Ground Zeroes where Snake is leaving and a wormhole opens above the motherbase sucking that and the survivors through.

Practically speaking, this uses elements already present in MGSV. There are already wormholes in that, presented as the way that you can warp from anywhere to defend your FOBs n' such (and later develop a wormhole Fulton). The parasite enemies are already basically zombies. They could potentially tie this back with, say, rescued Mother Base soldiers getting wormholed back and becoming the wandering Mother Base soldiers in the side-ops. It'd certainly serve to explain why they're wandering around delirious almost a decade later.
Questionable spinoff, sure. Not really any farther removed from the main series than Rising is though, most likely.
