    Commentary

The first wave is 3 Soldiers and 2 Terminators, the other two waves are 2 Soldiers and 3 Terminators. When the last enemy of each wave is slain, the clock continues to tick for a short duration (1/3 of a second or so) then the next wave spawns in. Your party's ATB will continue to count up during this time, as will ability cast bars. Any abilities which fill their cast bar during this time will wait until the enemies spawn before they activate.
This fight is mostly physical and gravity damage, so don't bother bringing serious magical mitigation. The 4 star Attack debuff dance is extremely helpful for debuffing the entire wave at once. Bio Grenade makes short work of the Soldiers, while Lightning's SSB, 4 star thunder summons, and even Swift Bolt will terminate the Terminators. Note that Shotgun ignores Draw Fire, so the Draw Fire + Retaliate combo isn't as useful here as you might think.

    Commentary
    • Ruby Dragon switches to Weak phase at 80% and Very Weak phase at 40%.

Once you're past the (generally very quick) initial phase, nearly 100% of Ruby Dragon's damage output is magical, so I'd suggest piling on the resistance gear and packing heavy magical mitigation. Ruby Dragon will cast Reflect on itself manually as well as the 30% counterattack, so if you're using Reflectable spells either bring a Reflect of your own or Banishing Strike (which also hits a weakness so it's pretty great on its own). If Reflect is active on Ruby Dragon when it begins casting a Reflectable offensive spell, it will target itself, so you can get it to waste turns by removing the Reflect in between when it starts casting and when the spell actually finishes. It'll heal itself with Chain Firaga for ~4000 this way, but that's pretty negligible all told. Anyway, Saint Cross will tear the Ruby Dragon to pieces, and it's none too fond of Snowstorm Strike or Chain Blizzaga either. Even Alexander can hit over 10,000 damage without any buffs or synergy weapons. Ruby Dragon's speed and offensive punch ramp up considerably as its health decreases, so consider saving your best attacks for once it hits 40%.

Event Quest Notes: Seifer with Saint Cross will probably be your hero unless you have Rinoa's BSB or Squall's enIce SB. Bring maximum magical mitigation, including (unfortunately) Irvine for Full Break, and I'd even suggest Wall on this one if you have any of the native Hastega relics. His weakness to ice and holy means you don't have to worry quite as much about a boostga/faithga. Keep in mind that you need a Dispel or Banishing Strike if you're going to use single target spells on him, though.

No, I have nothing for Edea so she's getting the bench. Maybe when she catches up or I pull a relic for her.

    RW - Hope BSB

U+ CM setup. Basically doing this like the Rinoa BSB RW Ifrit strat using the RW burst command 1 for all of the damage with Edea. The BSB command isn't reflectable, so I should be able to safely dish out massive damage with it.

About 15 S/L, a few due to reflect being used before the initial memento mori cast (which resulted in 9999 reflected back), and some due to the high damage output of the boss. No fire resist was a mistake, but didn't want to go through the trouble of finding another hope BSB just to fix it.

    Ult:
First 2 waves: This is a joke.
    Third: WTF just happened?!

I went 1/1 on the U+ CM with this setup:

And I just realized I should have used holy knight's pride on Seifer.

SBs used: MG8, a shared AoE and lol fast ammo.

I just made sure to time banishing strike right before I used blizzaja with quistis. I did get a little greedy at the end of the fight and had one reflected though.

for the U, i ran a hybrid party of relm/krile/ashe/lightning/tyro, RW celes burst. lightning's SSB shredded most of wave 2, meteor followup from krile did the rest. timed it perfectly so wave 3 was spawn > multibreak > ashe SSB and another AoE or two finished that off.

not sure what i wanna do for U+ yet though

Ult: Desperado (I mock laguna at my own peril apparently), agrias ssb and squall beat down the mobs. Damage medal lost.
Ult+: I had to s/l five times because I decided not to bring fire res gear and he kept using random reflect/counter reflects at terrible times and back to back AOEs, then backed out and decided to play the stupid element resist game. The next run he uses a single fire AOE and no other AOEs, uses reflect on himself after counter reflect (giving me a bounce target), spams firaga on himself because he gets dispelled and he speeds up massively at lower HP, and no medals lost because he did basically nothing the entire battle. You couldn't have done that the first time?

Mastered CM with the mostly-Ifrit Mote strats. RW Rinoa BSB. Seifer Saints Cross spam. Only a few S/L. I tried doing it without haste the first go around, but nope, did not end well.
