It's reasonable that I can't beat U with a team of only 65s right? Seems 120 difficulty is about as far as I can go in pretty much any event since I don't have anyone over 65 really.
If they're FF7 65's, then yes you should be okay.
If they're non realm 65's, it heavily depends on what SB's you have and realm gear, but should still be doable.
Id even say U++ is doable with realm 65's if youve got good gear/hones. The problem there is that U+ is probably not doable even with realm 65's because of the durability and longevity issues.
The hard ult+s and mote dungeons I've had to egg people up past 65 but generally not for ultimates (had to for rubicante due to near total lack of synergy). The main advantage I've seen is more HP. But it depends on what you're throwing out - an team with good soul breaks and coverage is different than a bunch of defaults.
might try u++ now that I have Beatrix BSB. not sure that'll help, but maybe. it's 1 stamina anyway.
did anyone actually beat this with a physical team?
Well, I had one black mage. But otherwise, yes, I went with a physical team.
I went with Ramza, Aerith, Tidus, Vincent, Gilgamesh. Would have been better to replace Gilgamesh with Bartz probably, but meh. Beat it 1/1 anyway. Could have replaced Vincent with Faris tbh to make it even easier. During the physical immune phases I just attacked with everyone (including Aerith and Vincent) until the core opened again.
i went physical! iirc, the setup was:
rosa - curaja/protectga, divine cure - dr. mog
faris - armor breakdown/wrath, beryl serpent - mako might
ramza - magic breakdown/lifesiphon, unsung hero - ace striker
basch - saint's cross/lifesiphon, apoc shield/ruin impendent - battleforged
auron - full charge/lifesiphon, banishing blade - knight's charge
shout RW
basically i wanted to make sure i had at access to multiple of layers of mitigation stacked at any time if i phase pushed, since i needed to survive a couple turns to break the core open. faris only wrath'd during the core closed stretches where losing the shout buff didn't matter.
You can survive U+ with 65s.
thanks! I might be able to put together something similar. I'm lacking in 5* abilities and hones but I have pulled some ridiculous SBs that could make up for it.
yeah, I think I'll give it a shot tonight. worst that can happen is I'm out 1 stamina lol. I jus got Mako Might today so that should help. something like:
Ramza: Shout Lifesiphon/Power Breakdown, Dr. Mog's Teachings
Faris: BSB, Armor Breakdown/Magic Breakdown, Mako Might
Beatrix: BSB Lifesiphon/Shellga One-eyed General
Bartz: BSB Lifesiphon/??? ???
Selphie: Dreamstage, Curaja/Protectga
RW... maybe wall? or KT and replace Shellga/Protectga with more heals/Aegis Strike (I don't have Saint's Cross honed yet or I'd bring that)? anyway, something like that. just thinking out loud here.
U+ ded. and I'm not going back for Mastery because fuuuuuck that battle. U++ is what I'm aiming for now. even just completion without mastery would be worth it
fwiw, i think i only used SC once or twice; it definitely wasn't an integral part of my setup which relies heavily on spamming the shit out of soul breaks, haha. since beatrix is your knight and has a BSB, you're solid for the knight slot.
Yes, I took nonsyn mages for mastery on diamond weapon but physicals for VII since that's where my synergy is (and got mastery so eh). I did dual whm with one having diaga though. I think physicals are straight disadvantaged because of not being able to hit weakness (no kn 5 in realm, no fire/lightning), having to front row and having to do the 8 whiffs to get the core back open. But it's entirely possible.
got him down to <10% using KT and the above setup. confident I could take him down with some tweaking and getting used to his attacks (stamp out in particular is far worse than I thought it would be). Beatrix BSB just melts through him... until those damn chokepoints :/
having no synergy in the realm and not having a decent mage team is putting me at a huge disadvantage though. my only good FFVII weapons are all front row, none of my VII characters are leveled except Cloud, and my only SB relic in VII is Aeris's reraisega. so... I'm doing pretty well, all things considered ^^
Switch Ramza's Lifesiphon for Banishing Blade. Should give you a bit more dps and shout refreshes should come from normal skill usage and AoE damage.
One bit of advice that I can give, is to use Yuffie's RM2 (if you have it), celerity abilities or attack to get the core open again. Yuffie's RM2 is an instant cast attack. Celerity skills have a cast time of 1.2s and attack is 1.5s. Most abilities are 1.65s. Every little bit helps to get it back open.
I even had my healer poke in with an attack so I could refresh breaks with my 2nd support (Barret)
one less Stamp Out and I would have gotten mastery...
Least ya beat it, grats!
and I did a full physical team myself with barely any synergy (Gold Sword/Basilisk Dagger/Organics)
my Ramza runs Full Break + Magic/Powerbreakdown personally. I always find that when I start with Shout, I am always either real close or just barely into the need for my 2nd shout with enough of the skill usage.
Glad you beat it though, sorry about no mastery! :<
thanks! I came back and mastered it with a few changes. Bartz SSB > BSB for this battle due to Stamp Out; switching over really helped. lost one medal for actions and two for damage :3
Geez this one was hard for the CM/Mastery even with all my goodies ><
