      • Resists: None
      • Vulnerabilities: Slow Abilities and Stun Abilities

    Commentary

Arc: Kill Arc with extreme prejudice because Photon followed by an AOE will kill anyone. Fortunately this version of the fight doesn't have the AOE Confuse attack. For Valia Pira, just bring heavy magical mitigation and it won't be able to touch you.
Valia Pira: Valia Pira's stats, elemental resistances, and skills change depending on how many FF9 characters you bring to the fight.

    Commentary

The Dragons can be Blinded, Paralized, Stopped, and put to Sleep. Pick your poison (that works too if you need it) and debilitate them until they can't fight back. Or just stomp them with AOE.

Shellga and magical breaks will neuter his magical attacks and he's vulnerable to Blind to neuter his physical attacks. This is a very easy fight.

    Commentary
    • Dahaka switches between Default and Straight states at random.

Chop Cut is completely brutal and Dahaka's defenses are much higher in Straight state, so your best bet for winning the fight is to just go full bore on him from the very start of the fight and pray he never decides to go into Straight state.

    Commentary
    • Kraken enters Phase 3 immediately and permanently if both the Left Tentacle and Right Tentacle are killed. Otherwise, Kraken enters Phase 2 at 50% HP.

You need to leave one of the tentacles alive. I suggest leaving the Right Tentacle (which is on Kraken's right, not the right side of the screen) alive because there's a medal condition for not getting hit 5 times with Ink and because Right Tentacle is slower than Left Tentacle. Bring both physical and magical mitigation, because there are AOEs of both types. A Sentinel-style SB (attract both physical and black magic attacks) can be useful as well because there's a lot of single target damage in this fight.

35% chance to activate in response to any attack: ? Wings (NAT: deal 270% physical damage to one target, ignoring defense)

    Commentary
    • Zorn and Thorn use Twincast Meteor every 5 turns. Zorn and Thorn use Fire/Ice on their first turn and Attack on their next two turns. Meltigemini uses Poison Powder on its first turn and Meteor on its second turn. Meltigemini switches to Phase 2 at 50% HP and then uses Virus Smoke on its first turn and Meteor on its second turn after switching to Phase 2.

You do have to kill both Zorn and Thorn to trigger Meltigemini, but they're not too tough. Try to burn one of them down before their 5th turn so you skip their Twincast Meteor. Once Meltigemini spawns, the real Dark Souls fight begins. He's extremely fast with a massive punch. If fighting him with your A team, make sure you have a hastega then go all in on mitigation. His AOE Bio will deal ~3000 damage through Shellga + Magic Breakdown + Full Break on characters with ~250 Resistance. You need more mitigation than that if you really want to survive the fight without incredible luck, because his AI is set up to absolutely spam the hell out of it.

Event Quest Notes: Dunno. I wouldn't want to try this without at least a native Hastega or Medica (or both if you have Eiko's first AOE heal).

Total medals = 18, meaning you can only afford to lose 3 medals to get Mastery.

Reminder to all. Best you all farm Quina and Garnet's RM2s during the event. These are realm specific RMs so best take advantage of the cheap stamina event dungeons.

another reminder: trash mobs will instant kill you in this event.

learned that the hard way... luckily it was one of the earlier levels and I still got mastery, so no stamina wasted. not a problem if you S/L or bring rez but it does mean having to pay attention to trash mobs, which is dumb

  9. #9

It's the zombies with a roulette move. Had a few S/Ls, myself.

Between Zidane, Oath Veil, Meltdown, and Finishing Touch RW, the + bosses all died pretty much instantly. ++ wasn't all that bad either. +++? LOLded.

Bring on the Ultimates, especially now that I have Quina the uber buff and can possibly get Kuja leveled soon.

That boss with the two dragons.. LOL. I took Cloud's OSB as a RW and just nuked one, then let him hit the other. So hilarious.

Yeah, double proc Meltdowns was fun on the bosses. Still wish we could R2 it.

U++ CM mastered! lost one medal for damage taken. went for full physical since i have insane physical synergy/SB's for IX now. setup was:

freya - wrath/armor breakdown, six dragons - ace striker
    zidane - thief's revenge/lifesiphon, stellar circle 5 - battleforged
quina - full break/magic breakdown, frog drop - dr. mog
garnet - curaja/shellga, divine guardian - mako might
    steiner - saint's cross/fira strike, sword art climhazzard - sword +20%

RW was eiko's burst, that thing is incredible. super jealous of everyone that managed to pull it!

i held up frog drop for a few turns to let everyone build SB bars and get breakdowns applied. zorn and thorn were simple enough, just rush one of them down to ensure they can't use twincast meteor. with the crit buff, imperil and enwind up, freya's SSB absolutely wrecked meltigemini. DG+shellga kept the damage just manageable enough to survive to get the second RW cast off.

i actually have to go back to master U+ however, i tried ignoring the tentacles and failed the 'kill before it uses ink 5x' condition. lost a couple medals for damage as well

Cleared CM without unique SBs, though I did lose 4 medals (1 action, 2 damage, 1 KO)

    Spoiler: show

    Kuja - Curaja r5 / Shellga r3 / Doublecast / Shared Medica
    Eiko - Curaga r5 / Haste r5 / Auto Haste / Shared Medica
    Garnet - Faith r2 / Maduin r4 / Devotion / None
Quina - Full Break r2 / Magic Breakdown r4 / Auto Haste / Shared Medica
    Beatrix - Renewing Cure r5 / Magic Lure r3 / Auto Haste / None

    RW - Vivi BSB

The BSB alone wasnt enough to solo both parts with Kuja as zorn/thorn arent weak to anything, so I tweaked my setup and ended up having Garnet in charge of all of the damage with the help of faith and maduin for some extra damage before i used RW.

    Garnet's rotation was:

    Faith > Maduin x3
    Faith > Vivi BSB > BSB Command 2 x5 (Zorn/Thorn down)
Faith > Vivi BSB > BSB Command 1 x5 (Meltigemini down)

Had 3 people dead at the end which cost me mastery, but A-team mastered it easily for an extra stam. Those AoE bios are painful

That fight was pretty hard on the damage. Them meteor and AoE bio attacks hurt even through mitigation. Should have brought Agrias to make it easier but meh mastered anyways. Not going to CM because I don't want to egg Quina to 65+.

ugh, made my team and was ready to go in, then remembered I had to actually fight Zorn and Thorn first... at least I didn't waste the RW I guess... need to go back to the drawing board =/ didn't want to waste ability slots to actually kill those 2 things.

Even with Full Break + Magic Breakdown, shit still hurts like hell during phase 2, even Bio which doesn't go through RES. I wonder if Ultimate Meteor is scripted though.

Turn 1 double AoE magic sucked though. Start the fight at like 1/3rd hp for everyone.
