To say that is an understatement would be an understatement.
To say that is an understatement would be an understatement.
facebook ads swayed the election
lmao
Of course not, Russia was just doing it for the lulz.
Says they were funding events for both sides so I'd guess a lot of the aim was along the lines of greater division and political unrest in general. Help us forget about all the shit they've been pulling over there
They just want us at each other's throats.
Seems to be working p well.
yeah but we don't need their help with that we got our own domestic hate machines causing way more problems than not even 1% of political tweets.
just turn the tv on fox or cnn and you get all the divisiveness you could ever ask for
yeah you rite.
david brock and his band of CTR shills on reddit had way more impact on generating hate than any russian influence, I just think the whole "russians impacted the election via fb ads" is a pretty lame excuse for losing to the worst presidential candidate in the history of the US
weaponized trolling was the entire point: to undermine faith in the democratic process.
I guess this discussion goes here.
Sen. Dianne Feinstein dropping gold at the testimony of Facebook, Google, and Twitter on the Russian election interference. It's live, but basically "You guys don't get it. This is the start of cyber warfare and your platforms are being used to wage it. Please understand the gravity of this and help us fix this. Or we'll do it for you."
Holy shit Rubio dropping bombs too. I had no idea Facebook was developing apps to block posts, ads, etc from being sent/seen depending on your geographic location. They're doing it to be able to enter the Chinese market.
Why the fuck do you think Zuckerberg made that trip to China? Literally lots of money to be made there with yuge growth potential.
I hope these hearings go seriously south for Zuckerberg and they probably will since he has no friends in DC.
Yep all these platforms playing coy like they haven't take YUGE money from these various foreign powers and just had no idea what was going on. Give me a break.
VP for Facebook is at the testimony. The rest are general counsel. Twitter sent the noobie apparently, he's sweating terribly at this.
Oh wait, Google sent the Senior VP. Dude is definitely more composed than poor twitter guy lol.
Talking about bots now, has to be one of the easiest things to fix. The bots are super obvious if you have tweet deck panel searching a specific term, something like "ISIS" and watch for a bit, suddenly will flood with 100+ of the same tweet. How can they not detect that when I can see it in real time.
