Someday I hope we'll leave the Era of delays and games will get released on time once again.
Nah, I want them to hold things off until a game is ready. Back when Blizz was good, they were notorious for that. Otherwise you end up with games like Cyberpunk which has all the potential to be a game of the year, and then ate itself due to release pressure.
Oh I agree. I was implying a complete game delivered on time.
As Qalbert pointed out, new release date : August 31st, 2021 --- Closed Beta begins July 20th, 2021
They've delayed so they can work on new features that they believe are crucial to the game:
- End-game zone: Ebonscale Reach
- 5 players instanced dungeons
- End-game mode: Outpost Rush (20vs20)
- End-game zone: Reek Water
- Hundreds and hundreds of weapons and gears
- Improved combat

I am mostly curious as to what this game actually turns out to be. It was at one point a survival game, then a pvp game with territory control, and now just seems to be a regular ol themepark MMO(quests, dungeons, BG).
Most likely a mess, if they've gone through that many scope changes.
Most likely it'll be like every other MMORPG out on the market now, but "new". People will try it for a while, then return to their favorite.
New World is now adding Voice acting to every npc.

New update for New World.
https://www.newworld.com/en-us/ice-bound-april-2021
Some of the takeaways:
- New weapon: Ice Gauntlet (Intelligence based)
- Two new (high end) expeditions/dungeons
- Gunpowder doesn't require fire motes anymore! (It's easier to make; requires saltpeter)
- Stat thresholds = passive bonuses like having a chance to deplete a node in one swing
- Trade interface between players
- Locking items to prevent salvaging them
- Multiple PVP incentives.
Their pvp stuff still isn't great. 5 min castle sieges anyone ?!?

Items in the store during Alpha will be purely cosmetic and provide no gameplay advantages. As the game evolves, we may add new categories of store items based on our players’ desires. We may make mistakes which is why we’re testing and engaging with our community to solicit feedback.
We won't consider selling anything other than cosmetic items until 2022 at the earliest.
Woo!! 4 months of free P2W.
The amount of defending they are doing for this idea push WHEN THE GAME ISNT EVEN OUT YET, is ridiculous. I remember watching a few people do reaction videos to the leaked email they sent to Alpha players that broke NDA to release the info and the comments on it were pretty bad.
Deep dive @ 11 AM ET
New beta is up. Actually is better than the trash they released last year for a beta. Tree cutting is too addictive
Played in every early version of this game. Crafting/Gathering is the highlight. Everything else is borderline atrocious.
Edit: also the game runs very stable. Considering who owns it, that’s a gimme.
Been watching some streams, and it looks like there's a heavy focus on faction vs faction, with trying to take over each other's land? What I'm seeing doesn't look too bad.

The game is bricking EVGA 3090's. Just EVGA's, other brands work fine.
