Ah I was asleep at the time and don't usually watch the meteroid races, I wasn't aware that it was a bottled up anger reaction comment haha; rewatched (or listened) to the run and I can sort of understand why he said it

On the other hand, the fact that you're (pretty fairly) calling it out as an Earthbound clone but also saying it looks like absolute dogshit when the best part of both Undertale and Earthbound is the writing, while gathering your opinion from a speedrun that obviously is going to skip all the writing, makes it pretty obvious what side of that polarized fanbase you want to fall under.

This. It most certainly draws influence from Earthbound. Toby Fox got his start in game development by making Earthbound hacks. One of the BGMs in Undertale is straight from the boss fight from his Earthbound ROM hack.

I'm admittedly biased, but I think Undertale is one of the better RPGs to come out recently. You're not going to get why the game is so highly rated from watching a speedrun. It's well worth the $10 or even less when it's up on a Steam sale. I think I have something like 50 hours clocked from getting all the endings.

The fanbase is cancerous. Stay away from tumblr and the undertale subreddit.

Dude got his jimmies rustled by random crowd troll and said some retarded shit on stream. The dank waluigi chants could've been handled in a much more dignified manner. The chat alone for GDQ events bans even the most petty of things so his fate was obviously sealed.
