I had to go look up what Justice Democrats are.

I can appreciate the platform, but I'd rather just give my time, money and energy to the Dem Socialists.

Also I don't know that I particularly like Uygur. This is his second SuperPAC and I have no idea where this money goes.

The vote for chair is happening live. Perez is one vote short, it's 214.5 to win:

    Here's the tally:

    Perez 213.5
    Ellison 200
    Boynton Brown 12
    Buttigieg 1
    Greene .5

Libs couldn't even give the left a symbolic victory. Perez is very left leaning but the fact that the neoliberal establishment pushed Perez to counter Ellison and so many of the DNC voters are corporate lobbyists or work for lobbyists is not a way to get the support of the left.

    I'm okay with this.

If we take a "gotta embrace the crazy left" message from our recent loss, we're going to lose the potential to become the "reasonable" party of a more politically engaged post-Trump society.

    losses*. Unbridled losses since 2008.

And y'all think quashing the populist candidate in favor of Yet Another Pro-Establishment Candidate who hasn't held an elected* office higher than city council is going to get those seats back?

Only thing democrats seem to be good at is quashing popular support for their party.

I would have voted for Bernie over Trump, but I would have had much more tangible and serious concerns about his viability as a leader than anyone had about Hillary. I don't want people like Bernie to be our default candidates, because most of them would make shitty presidents (as Bernie has been an objectively unproductive senator).

Americans are unable or unwilling to elect a candidate based on their merits. We NEED to bow to the fact that the election is essentially a popularity contest. However, we should at least be trying to sneak candidates in that are going to try and do a good job.

If it had been Bernie vs. a 2012 Mittens, I'd have seriously considered voting for Mittens. Bernie's goals were good, but his plans were terrible.

Seriously, this ^. We elect people not ideas. The notion that it's okay for an elected official to be utterly incompetent because "they have advisers to do the real work" is a national embarrassment.

Excellent. To give some potential context, there are two ways to propose a constitutional amendment:
    1) Passes with 2/3 of house and senate, followed by confirmation by 38/50 state legislatures
    2) Passes with 2/3 of state legislatures, followed by confirmation by 38/50 state legislatures

The president cannot block it. As far as I can see, Governors effectively cannot block it

Republicans currently have control of 32/50 legislatures (64%). It's not clear whether 33/50 (66%) would count as 2/3 (66.66666%), but we're one or two legislatures from potential amendment spam and 6 legislatures away from unfettered Republican constitutional amending.

    66.666666666% seems fitting

Also I didn't know that, and hope it happens.
