Well was pretty easy
Got full medals abusing entrust + tidus BSB + OSB
Setup:
Tyro - Lifesiphon r5 / entrust r2 / Ace Striker / none
Eiko - Curaja r5 / Shellga r3 / Doublecast / BSB
Red - Power Breakdown r4 / Armor Breakdown r4 / Support DMG +30% / none
Ramza - Full Break r2 / Magic Breakdown r4 / Mako Might / Shout
Tidus - Lifesiphon r4 / Northern Cross r2 / Sword DMG +30% / BSB + OSB
RW - Wall
Lifesiphoned through phase 1, activated 3 barriers on phase 2, donated Tyro's SB bars to Tidus and did Tidus BSB + 2x 99999 damage OSBs for a quick kill.
Similar strat should work if you have cloud's OSB + climhazzard as well or with more effort building up SB gauge if you have either OSB but no en-spell.
I found the leadup bosses harder than necrophone, but Celes carry made the barrier damage pretty low.
As someone with no SB for support that aren't from like two months into the games life. This is impossible for me. I don't have enough damage or the capability to keep up healing wise. Best case scenario I get him to the final phase with him Being above 30% and he's not even scratching 15 by the time I'm in my last man.
Fuck this fight. Don't need the shitty ability anyway.
It's the crystals that are valuable here. Would it help you if I switched to Celes?
In the end Shout and building SBs with the Flee method is what let me master.
Nah, I appreciate it though. Probably just going to skip it until it comes around later and I hopefully have better SB for my support line up.
And as sad as it sounds I don't care much bout the crystals either. There aren't any 6* abilities that look like game changers to me lol. Doing it for completion sake.
Thief one looks nice but I can 2 rank that as is and I doubt I'd need it further

How much resistance are people running on this fight? Nothing like Flare followed by two aoe spells to nuke someone down the second phase 2 starts.
All my party members had 350+ resistance pre-buffish.
Yeah, just ran pure res for armor and ele res for accessories. Flare/holy were doing 1-1.2k and other spells were ~300 or so iirc. Shell/wall/magic down dance
Don't know if its been noticed with dances not working for the fight mechanic, but the Fullbreak SSB/BSB's from characters like Faris and Wakka can proc all 4 dooms on or off.
So yeah I still can't beat this. Damage is way too low. With 3 barriers triggered farris burst hits only about 5k per hit and my only other damage SB is caltrop bomb.
Seriously, I can toss up Ramza if you need it. Most of the damage is increased from having native attack bonuses, and you really need that to push through his defense.
fun fact: if you can manage to get wakka's BSB off right after your doom counters hit 0, you can flip them all off and save your party! vastly overestimated my damage output in a party with no real dedicated DDs, but on a fluke i managed to salvage it with that, lol.
There's a pierce build floating around. Basically, you leave the doom counters alone (after turning off the first), and just buff with Ramza and another that stacks and use Seph's BSB as RW and Attack command ignore defense. There are a few other things to help, too.
Ive gotten this asshole down to like 10% multiple times and it always ends in clusterfuck failure.

Had to hit and run to build SB gauges for this strat, but fuck it. Glad its over with. RW was Aetherial Pulse.
Usual mitigation + Shout + SG up early, then used Beatrix's BSB for the Holy Imperil and timed Gordon's Goddess Bell for right when the barrier's spawned. Waited until I got a Armor or Mental break Doom so I started out with 3 dooms fully buffed and mitigated.
Around 40%, I tried to keep it close timing between Gordon + Wakka and Tyro + Ramza working in tandem while Beatrix just launched BSB's. I used Wakka - Gordon - Wakka to clear and reset doom timers and set it up so I had 3 active, then repeated spamming BSB and keeping SG/Power/Magic BD on until the thing died on turn 8 of Phase 2.
Most aggravating fight in a while.
