Bastok was the best starter city, but Sandy and Windy had the best starter NM's.

Leaping Lizzy disagrees. Plus that SAM katana.
only a few steps further for Emperor as well. Bestok 4or3v3r.
It also had that sheep that bards liked to fuck or something idk.
Sandy was the best place to be, fuck Bastok. You deserve the poor image you were given, can't handle the bagpipe swag.
Bastok was the best. I remember crossing the dunes and the plateau and zoning into Sandy for the first time and hearing those screeching bagpipes. No small wonder the Orcs had stayed away.
Sandy had the regal as fuck starter zone music. Bastok was the real starter struggle however, which made it better. Also badasses like Volker, Zeid, Cid, Ayame, Iron Eater & Shadow Lord. Fuck President Karst however.
With that said it's funny as fuck that these dudes didn't even have the foresight to even remove the Bastok symbol from the Cid model, just straight ripped off this man, haha.
You can take the Cid out of Bastok but you can't take the Bastok out of Cid.
The face of Bastok
Spoiler: show
Sure am glad this thread popped up while FFXI was doing free play week, cause I got nostalgia'ed, at least it didn't cost me anything to log in and run around stabbing shit for a while.
Windy de best. Just so much to explore and tons of cat girls. Also Shantoto. Hell even had an extra zone.
Sandy all day, every day.
If I ever have a child I look forward to telling them how the moment of their birth was a solid second to the first time I emerged from Bastok, blinking in the warm sunlight, and heard the Gustaberg theme for the first time.
My child plays FFXI with me now. Having had a choice of all cities, she showed the wisdom and maturity to recognize the greatness of San d'Oria.
They chose wrong, you'll have to send that child back where it came from.
Edit:
Make Bastok great again. We'll build a wall across the Dunes and make the Elvaan pay for it.
Edit Edit: Selbina will be on our side of the wall.
