    Spoiler: show
The title screen after you beat the game is an actual casino where they told her to go.

Press Start spoke with The Last of Us Part II’s co-director Kurt Margenau and asked about whether or not this radio chat was a simple ruse. “That’s actually a very common question,” Margenau said. “Did you beat the game and see the new screen? An eagle-eyed viewer would note that it is actually Catalina Island off the coast of Los Angeles, where the Firefly camp is meant to be.”

Margenau says it’s unfortunate that the moment is being misconstrued as a Rattler trap, as it’s meant to be a beacon of hope near the end of the game.

Welp, guess they needed a better writer/director then cause that wasnt clear at all. I had zero hope by the end of the game, and if thats what they were going for then they failed. I thought the entire point of the game was violence begets violence and life is suffering lol

What are you trying to say - that the title screen that only people who know a specific building in the real world would understand didn't fill you with hope after watching Ellie arrive at an empty home, fail to play the guitar due to losing her fingers, and then leave the guitar to seemingly walk into the woods to die?

I took the ending to be ellie just going off to live what life she has left. No happy ending, just a life of sadness because she gave into her demons all game. Still, they need to stop doing interviews cause the game isn't terrible but its clearly also not the game they wanted to make lol.

I disagree, they all knew what the stakes were, Ellie and Tommy were probably prepared for it to be a one way trip. Then they already agreed that their revenge was sorted. "It's going to have to be enough." Tommy's just mad Abby ruined her shit. The story is about learning to forgive. The goal is (imho) to make Ellie/the player forgive Abby. You can hate her all you want, and whether the game succeeds is up for debate. It wasn't that she just decided revenge was bad at the end, you don't just stop wanting revenge in the span of a few seconds. It was that she realized, "I don't have to do this. It won't bring Joel back. It won't get rid of my PTSD. I'm about to do to to Lev, what Abby did to me, what Joel did to Abby."

Don't know if I'd say forgiveness, I would go with acceptance really. I don't think we/Ellie are meant to forgive Abby for what she did, but just accept that it happened and we all, Ellie included, have to find a way to move on. At the end when your choking Abby underwater and it flashes back to Joel, I agree thats the feeling she got, hell may have even known that he wouldn't want her to chase for revenge as she did. That her revenge quest for him is what is holding her back from having the kind of life that he would have wanted for her.

Honestly, the fact that we all have different interpretations of how to handle the end seems like a success to me.

I still hated Abby at the end. But I understood her. And I just wanted Ellie to stop. I was sad for Ellie. I was sad for Dinah, poor girl did never did anything wrong. Jessie was awesome and died anyway. I was even sad for Tommy, he ended up being an asshole, but only because of the terrible shit he had to live through. The game wasn't perfect at all. Chapters 100% could have been reorganized. The ending could have been more clear with the fireflies being real. But goddamn. This game made me feel so much shit by the end of it. I wanna play it again, and I'll stream it once I get a chance, but it was so fucking emotionally exhausting that I'm not exactly in a rush lol.

This is almost exactly how I feel. Although, I felt bad for Abby too instead of hating her. And I never even thought the fireflies could be fake, just cause the way the guy spoke with Abby, and he even asked who the head of the branch was that she was at to confirm her identity.

Even though I'm playing more aggressively and rushing through the game a second time just to get all the trophies, I still find myself rewatching some of the cutscenes. And that's on top of watching a YouTuber go through it as well (although she uploads pretty slowly). I love the game lol.

I was telling my wife earlier today that I'm gonna have to replay the first one again, cause I think I might even like this one more. Just to be clear, though, I've only played the first one once back when it first came out.

Yeah I 100% felt bad for her by the end. Once the rattler storyline happened it was just like, goddamn, let this poor girl go. She has been literally fucking crucified and I don't even recognize her anymore. As soon as we took over as El, I knew abby wa fucked because there was no way he could just sit there and be a slave for months.

I haven't repayed the original ever. But I stream with a buddy who has never touched either game, and I'm gonna have him replay them both while I drink and laugh at his anguish lol. I'm really looking forward to watching the replay (and jumping in to help on some of the kills).

Looks like they're releasing 2 more difficulties for this: Grounded and Permadeath. PSN trophies have been updated already to reflect this. Not sure on the date.

Guess I'm gonna have to play this 1-2 more times, which is fine with me lol.

Also, I played part 1 again. It's definitely better than I remembered, but I think I still like part 2 just a tiny bit more.

Edit: Err, I guess Permadeath is simply a setting you can turn on and not its own difficulty.

The game was very good overall, but man fuck that ground zero mission.

I literally played the entire area in listen mode holding R1.

I liked TLoU2, but I don't think it deserved the win over Tsushima.

The only thing I'd give Tsushima over tlou2 is art direction, and that's a stretch.
TLOU2 played better, had better audio, had better acting etc etc. I can go on for days about everything tlou2 was better at. Sure there's an argument to be made about the narrative and a solid case can be made that Tsushima's narrative is better, but a game doesn't win game of the year on narrative alone. And yes, I thought tlou2's was better.

I'm surprised to see you guys talk up tsushimas story. At launch I heard that was one of the flaws, the game was so much bloat and they couldn't find a story beat to care about. I don't think they finished the game tho, so maybe it turns around
