God damn this is still alive? Shit went real dark after the E3 before last.

Its going to be a Ps5 launch title.
Probably.
I got my PS4 not long ago for a combination of Last of Us Remastered, FFXV, and to goof around on Destiny 1. Now I'll need to buy another console to continue with this story.
I was expecting that as well, until they scheduled this event. It's weird to have an event dedicated to a single game if the plan is to release it on a console that has not been announced yet. That's not to say they don't release a remastered version for the PS5 release like they did with the first one though.
It will def have an inferior version on PS4 for sales, but this is one of the rare games I'm very happy to wait and experience for the first time properly.
there's no way it's not coming out for PS4 / is primarily designed for PS4. imagine it'll be a BotW style jam that spans the generations, but i'd also be surprised if the PS4 version doesn't release first. most rumored release date is February while PS5 shouldn't be out till Holiday season of 2020.
That's good news, then. I don't have a new console budgeted for a while.
Ps5 mode will be 4k/60fps native. With some free dlc. Over and done.

4k/60fps is what all leaks have pointed at, but seems lofty.
Not lofty at all imo. New architecture, new tech. Idk about streaming 4k/60fps, but straight play? Yeah not worried.

Unless AMD has something amazing hiding up their sleeves signs so far point to their newer GPUs (that would be featured in the new consoles) not being all that great, especially once you factor the whole system being downscaled to the 150ish watt range that consoles typically use.
Both CPU and GPU are new processors iirc, super small, and require less power. They're billing them as 4k machines, and if current gen can handle 4k gaming when designed for it I'm sure next gen will be able to as well.
I'm just convinced technology isnt going to stand still at this age, when every generation of tech to date has been an improvement on the last. This isnt even bleeding edge tech, we've been talking 4k and 60fps for over half a decade at this point lol.

My guess it many next-gen games hit 4k/30fps as a floor and 4k/60fps as a ceiling, but I think they hit the goal as well.
Itll be great when the bar is just 4k/30fps and everyone can focus on other things than finagling old shit to try and make it run smoothly. Even consoles aside, GPU tech is really coming about atm and it's an exciting time in that area.

Eh, GPUs haven't had a big leap in performance since the Nvidia 1000 series and that was 3 years ago (which granted is much newer tech then what's in current consoles). Well, actually the 2000 series of Nvidia Max-Q cards are insanely power efficient and a gigantic boost in performance/watt ratio, but also that kind of tech is way too expensive for a console plus you know... not AMD.
AMD only just matched the 1000 series level of performance this year, and that's going to be cut in half to fit inside a console. To say nothing of the new obsession with Ray tracing, which is wildly inefficient even at 1080p resolution, and scales even worse at higher resolutions then other conventional rendering systems.
And besides, out of fighting games or fps with a heavy competitive focus, there is zero financial incentive for developers/publishers to reach 60 fps. The average consumer doesn't care to begin with, and higher frame rate isn't something you can effectively advertise to the consumer thru screenshots/TV spots/YouTube ads.
February 21, 2020.
Holy cow this spring is crowded.
