Just moved, now my LAN wont go past 10.0 Mbps was 1Gb

As the title says, just moved, have 100mb down but my system is only detecting 10.0mbps. I double checked the settings and it's set for 1Gb full duplex, same cable as I had before(had 300 down and pulled fine). Drivers have not changed, no updates available for my system. Don't have another cable to test at this second(still moving). Any other ideas?

Do speed tests and tell your new isp to get their shit together.

You say LAN, so do you mean your local speeds or your internet speeds?

Sounds like you are talking about your internet speeds, in which DrClout is correct.

If you are talking about your local speeds, you can try a few things.

    1. change ethernet cables (Could be damaged from move)
    2. Connected to a different switch/router, whatever you have
    3. Are other devices on the LAN having the same issue?

For gigabit connections, forcing them to GB is usually a bad idea. What happens when you set your NIC to auto? If you still get 10MBit, it's probably either the cable or the port on your router/modem. If possible, try a different port.

Its the local ethernet on my device. I plugged a wireless usb card in and it pulls 60 down no issues. Gonna grab a new cable at work and see if that fixes it or if the cable the installer ran may be shitty. I'm connecting directly in to the zyxel modem/router as my PC is the only ethernet device on our network, and likely will be for ever.

As mentioned then, it's probably the wiring. Just FYI, 10MBit only actually needs a basic twisted pair cable, which only takes four wires in the ethernet cable, where 100/1000Mbit take all eight. Barring some old or otherwise intentional odd setup, what's likely is that you have a damaged or poorly crimped ethernet cable (or port).

Tried a new wire same issue. Tested with my laptop and pulls 1gb fine with both wires. Gotta be my system but doesn't make sense since literally nothing changed on my tower during the move.

You mentioned you set your NIC to 1GB right? Set it back to auto to ensure there isn't a duplex mix match (and restart comp freshly after doing this) and check to see if there are updated drivers (couldn't hurt really).

drop kick the shit outta it bruh!!

seriously though, i've only ever encountered something like this with WiFi to devices and it resolved with me factory resetting the isp router. The ISP gave me approval and help with it but damn man... I'm out of ideas

Have you tried physically cutting power to the computer for a few minutes? Sounds dumb but lan ports are always powered so pulling the power plug might have an effect for some things (disconnect lan, remove power, wait, add power, boot windows and let it fully load, plug in lan and check). There could also be a bios setting, but highly unlikely since you never changed anything.

I had the power cut when I put the new NIC card in. I have no idea why it would change. It has to be something broken in windows randomly.
