    Commentary
    • Gaffgarion uses Protect and Shell on his first two turns (order is random).

You really want to bring a Dispel effect because you're not going to kill Gaffy very quickly with Protect+Shell up. Gaffgarion's resistance is equal to his defense at all health levels, so mages will tear him up -- but Counter Shadowblade becomes more and more frequent as the fight goes on and can deal a considerable amount of damage to your mages in return. 100% of Gaffgarion's damage output is physical, so pack appropriate mitigation, but do keep in mind that his non-counter Shadowblade attacks, which comprise 60% of his attacks for most of the fight, ignore defense.

Event Quest Notes: The quest team doesn't have to worry about Counter Shadowblade because not one of them has a single star in Black Magic. They're also mostly pretty bulky and tanky, which helps a lot against Gaffy's physical onslaught. You should definitely bring Shout here if you don't have one yourself, because Wall isn't going to do you a heck of a lot of good except against his triple and quadruple Attack commands. Those can be Draw Fired, but, uh, you probably don't want to do that, because you don't want the same person to eat 1688% of physical damage.

Total medals = 18, meaning you can only afford to lose 3 medals to get Mastery.

    Commentary
    • Wiegraf starts the battle with his Knight and Monk A spawned. When the Knight is killed, the Chocobo replaces it. When Monk A is killed, Monk B replaces it.

Monk A is incredibly annoying because its first two turns will be a 100% Stun on a random character. If it hits your hastega or wall caster, things can get troublesome. Also note that there's a medal condition to Armor Break/Full Break the Knight, but it has extremely low HP and will die extremely quickly to any AOE attacks, so make sure to break it first before Wiegraf if you're using AOEs. As usual for bosses with a weakness to darkness or holy damage, Cid Raines's BSB will tear him apart.

Total medals = 18, meaning you can only afford to lose 3 medals to get Mastery.

I haven't been keeping up with FFRK news. Aside from his skillset, what makes his OSB stand out in particular?

Gives him a "Thunder God" self buff reducing all of his casting times to 1/3rd including SBs. In Japan it shows up frequently on much better banners though, this one isn't really great.

He breaks the game as soon as he joins your party in Tactics so they wanted to make him powerful here as well. It's just a nod to that like they did with OK's stats. He's also getting his MC3 from the U+.

DeNA needs to up their game on FFT content, as repeating these fights is beginning to feel like doing VI's Ultima Weapon every other event or two. Or Seymour.

I'm either extremely unlucky, or poison and silence are not vulnerabilities of U+. 7 uses of poison shell, 6 uses of silence shell, and 2 hallowed bolts produced no procs and a very sad mustadio doing poor damage due to no debuffs. Assuming that was a mistake, so don't count on those abilities doing boosted damage

I did get the CM clear anyway on the first try with -3 medals (1 action, 2 damage)

    Setup:
    Ovelia - Curaja r5 / Protectga r3 / Doublecast / SSB1 Medica
    Ramza - Full Break r2 / Power Breakdown r4 / Mako Might / Shout
    Delita - Lifesiphon r5 / Banishing Strike r4 / Dr Mog's Teachings / Crit Boost SB
    Mustadio - Poison Shell r4 / Silence Shell r4 / Doublecast / ---
    Agrias - Saint Cross r4 / Gaia Cross r1 / Knight DMG +40% / SB & SSB1

    RW - Wall

CM was pretty simple with native Shout and Cleansing Strike. Went with TGC OSB for offense instead of wall. Made short work of Gaff. Only tricky part was I had Agrias with Gaia's Cross so I needed RNG to not let Gaff double hit one target. After debuffs got up it was easy. S/L once.

CM was pretty easy for me, but i had the benefit of native... everything, lol. shout, all of ovelia's stuff, agrias/razma burst, mustadio's pentabreak, and i slotted in delita with SC + counter tackle. didn't bother with cleansing strike, once i had gauges built i unloaded and he went down quick.

similarly, that 100 gem gaffgarion BSB came in handy on U++. reentry with endark up was capping damage, didn't bother with the adds and just rushed the boss down.
