There's also an NPC that appears after the main part of each kingdom (once you get enough moons and can leave, I believe?) that lets you scan an amiibo or pay coins to get a hint at where a moon might be. If you've gotten all you currently can, it should tell you there are no more available.

Festival has to be one of my favorite video game moments. Nostalgia, music, atmosphere...it's amazing.

Minor tidbit of nostalgia in the first couple hours of playing this: in the Desert level where you can play the slots, same music from Super Mario RPG casino is played!

Nope. I was a bit irritated when I opened mine up to see a code for it.

Game is fun I’m at the
    Spoiler: show
lost kingdom after the fight with bowser in the clouds
    at about 120 ish moons

That kingdom sucks really much, game is fun but I liked more the old ways of galaxy/64 where you chose a scenario and the world were changing depending on your scenario, I’m sure some moons will be harder but finding 69moons in a small kingdom is not that hard

Anyway stuff might change as I get farther in

I'm enjoying this game so much, it's so gorgeously stylized and full of character that it's like if Pixar made a Mario game. I'm trying to figure out how to do the long jumps (not just the crouching long jump) with your hat. The jump and hat throw buttons are right next to each other so I don't quite get how to jump off of it.

Just hold the throw hat button and then jump on the hat itself. Usually jumping from where you threw the hat will be enough to be able to jump off.

Yeah, I blasted through it with my niece doing co-op, it was very enjoyable...when she wasn't distracted or purposefully trying to kill me. Tank controls kinda sucked with only 1 joycon. At least she was a good partner during the boss fights and figured out the last cap maneuver after the final boss on her own.

Still can't get the escape music out of my head.

    Spoiler: show
Controlling Bowser and smashing everthing was so satisfying. I wish there was more of it in the game.

God dammit this game is so much fucking fun. Punching Bowser in the dick repeatedly, and now this Oceanside boss fight are just so over the top. I love that the logic of the Mario gameworld doesn't make any comprehensive sense at all. It lets the game get away with justifying any of its situations just because they are fun to do. Why is Mario in an Earth-like pre-historic world with realistic dinosaurs? Because it's fun. Why are there realistic looking people co-existing with cartoon characters like Mario and Pauline? Because it's fun. Why are there retro NES Mario levels embedded into the sides of walls? Shutup its just for fun.

I could easily see most of the enemy possession abilities being capable of sustaining their own individual indie game. Just consider the Uproot ability to grow tall and jump, you can already visualize the cliche indie game title with pixel art can't you? It would be called "Uproot" and it would be like $5 on Steam. But all these nifty abilities are jumbled together into one game so the novelty doesn't wear thin so fast.

My only minor complaint is that the Moons feel frivolous compared to Stars in the past games. Sometimes they're just basically laying around all over the fucking place and the accompanying individual Moon titles reflect that. It's not a big deal, I get that you are supposed to have lots of optional paths and Moons to collect so you can keep passing through levels or double-back to find more. It's just a lot of them don't feel like you earned them by doing anything worth much thought or challenge, you just sort of bump into some of them.

I think you can keep buying them until you get to 999 total moons which unlocks something that isn't super exciting, just a trophy of sorts in the Mushroom Kingdom lol.
