Really like the art style (unlike Shadow Dragon), but holy shit I hope they're making some mechanical changes to this one because Gaiden is ROUGH.
It also sounds to me like the "Echos" subtitle is gonig to be used for more than just this FE2 remake. Kinda sounded like there's a possibility for more of the older titles to be brought forward.
Press ReleaseIn 1992, the second game in the Fire Emblem series, Fire Emblem Gaiden, launched exclusively in Japan. Now, for the first time, fans outside of Japan will get a taste of this classic game on the Nintendo 3DS family of systems. Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia is inspired by the 1992 original, reimagined on a grander scale. Every aspect of the Fire Emblem Gaiden game’s presentation has been updated, along with the game being fully voiced. Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia recreates classic Fire Emblem gameplay with a modern twist, mixing in exploration of dungeons crawling with enemies. Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia will launch on the Nintendo 3DS family of systems May 19. Characters from the game, Alm and Celica, will be available as amiibo figures in a two-pack, also on May 19.
Genealogy of the Holy War and Binding Blade both seem like good candidates for "remastering" for different reasons.
Too bad they couldn't even tease the Switch title at all. But not doing so kind of makes me think it won't be related to any of the existing games (or at least not directly). Either way, mucho bueno Nintendo.
Edit: I completely forgot the coolest part of this reveal was that it launches May 19. So soon.

Not this bullshit again.
Eh it was feature removed from the game period in all versions so I don't think that's really censoring.
By "bullshit" I meant the internet rage undoubtedly brewing over this meaningless exclusion.
That makes perfect sense.
Im actually skipping this game over the DLC. The $45 price tagged annoyed be but the fact that some classes and support convos are locked behind them pushed me into not getting it.
I had it preordered the day they announced it but it is a little shitty the way they've done the DLC for this one. After I play the game if I decide the DLC plan really is just scummy, I won't buy the DLC.
Censored Gaming is likely my most despised YouTube channel.
You're skipping the game because of its DLC? I think everyone's agreed that Fire Emblem's DLC pricing is scummy, but the vast majority of the DLC is unnecessary and only serves to hasten grinding, or unlock classes that weren't in the original game (and are OP). DLC pack #2 alone completely invalidates DLC pack #1.
Awakening and Fates both had as much or more DLC than Shadows of Valentia. The only difference is there wasn't one mega pack for each one, showing you exactly how much you'd be spending if you bought it all (which is, again, pointless).
Cherry picking the story-relevant prologue DLC (pack 4) would only cost $13. Everything else is completely unnecessary. Also, if I'm not mistaken, there absolutely aren't support convos locked behind DLC that should otherwise exist in the main storyline. I think the extra support conversations pertain to the prologue DLC maps.
Thats fine if you choose to still get it. I can respect that. Nintendo has just gotten way out of hand with their DLC model on Fire Emblem and I just can't get behind it anymore.
