J-dramas tend to do emotional bonds really well. They have a lot of practice and precedent after all, so this one should easily be touching at least.

Besides, every animated FF adaptation has been mediocre at best and downright awful at worst. I'd hate to see XIV's story reduced to FF:Ultimate levels of badness.
That's because SE doesn't like spending more money than they need to, we get what they pay for. XIV's 2.x+ storyline isn't even that great so it could only be an improvement at this point lol.

I don't think it has anything to do with money. They probably paid a buttload for good actors and CGI for Spirits Within and it still sucked ass as a Final Fantasy movie.

Advent Children was better (I actually quite like it) but it's been pretty universally panned story-wise.

Honestly no matter what kind of money they put into a film/TV series it seems not to come out very good. But then again maybe it's changing. I haven't seen Kingsglaive yet so that might be an exception? And Brotherhood wasn't awful, but it wasn't a stand-alone story either, just a companion piece. If Daddy of Light is good I'll have to update my opinon on SE's film/series track record.

Daddy of Light is coming to US Netflix Sept 1st. It's seven episodes plus one filler episode.

You wouldn't know that though because you've demonstrably never picked up a book nor educated yourself on the matter. Let me guess, overweight housewife?

You should be able to search the title and see it, put it on your list for when it comes available, and at least here in Canada, it says "Available Sept 1" right on it.

This doesn't seem like the kind of thing that'd hit any one market first or exclusively.

    Full-length film coming June 21st, 2019.

The movie will feature different actors since Ren Osugi, who played the father, passed away in 2018. Famous actor Koutarou Yoshida will take on his role. Kentaro Sakaguchi will play the son Akio Iwamoto.

Yoshida-san and the actors commented on stage on how the film will convey the story to a wider audience, as the original series was aired late in the evening in Japan. It’s also rather moving to think that it all started from one player enjoying the game.
