Blade of Galadriel DLC now available

Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment today released the Blade of Galadriel Story Expansion, all-new downloadable content (DLC) for Middle-earth: Shadow of War allowing gamers to play as the elite Elven warrior Eltariel for the first time. Known by her enemies as the Blade of Galadriel, Eltariel is a deadly assassin working for the Elven Queen, Galadriel, and has been sent to Mordor for millennia to hunt the Nazgûl. The Blade of Galadriel Story Expansion features the following content:

    • Play as Eltariel for the first time, an elite assassin known as the Blade of Galadriel, and go head-to-head with the newest addition to the ranks of the Nazgûl.

    • Wield Eltariel’s dual Elven blades and harness the Light of Galadriel with a host of deadly new combat abilities, skills and gear.

    • Encounter memorable new Nemesis characters, such as Flint, Tinder and the Slayer of the Dead, while battling the Nazgûl and learning more mysteries of their past.

    • Gain eight unique Legendary Orcs who can return to join your forces in the main story campaign with new abilities added to the Nemesis System.

    • Unlock an Eltariel character skin that can be used in the main story campaign.

Additionally, several new free content updates are also available today for Middle-earth: Shadow of War owners, including:

    • Nemesis System Enhancements – Orc Captains (whether friends or foes) can exhibit new traits and behaviours, adding further depth to combat encounters and player interactions, such as:

    - Tunnel Rat – Orcs can burrow into the ground and summon Ghûls.

    - Sniper Shot – Archers can fire from great distances with pinpoint accuracy.

    - Tremor – Ologs can pound the earth with tremendous force, staggering nearby threats and heavily damaging structures.

    - Gifts of Treasure – Followers can now bring players the gift of a Treasure Orc, providing even more ways to earn Gems and Mirian.

    • Photo Mode Upgrades – New filters, frames and styles, along with adjustable expressions and added stickers, giving players more options for customising in-game action shots.

    • Player Skins – Choose to appear as Talion or Eltariel in the main story campaign.

    • Training Orders Update – Players can now upgrade their Orc Followers with Training Orders while in the Garrison, saving time and offering more flexibility in deployment.

    • Player Stats Page – New menu for players to track a variety of in-game statistics, including the number and type of enemy kills, dominations and betrayals; fortresses conquered and defended; gear pieces collected and upgraded; and many more.

    • Field of View Options – More ways for players to customise the user interface and scale their field of view.

Today’s free content updates accompany a number of previously released free features, all available for Middle-earth: Shadow of War owners, including Endless Siege, Rebellion, Enhanced Photo Mode, Online Fight Pits and Gravewalker Difficulty.

Too late for me, already traded it back for $30 credit back in December.

Microtransactions to be Removed July 17th, Gold Purchases to End May 8th
We want to thank all of the Middle-earth: Shadow of War players, as we’ve learned a lot from you. Since we released the game last fall, we’ve been listening to your feedback and continue to update and improve the experience. With that in mind, we’ll be releasing a series of free updates in the coming months to offer current fans and new players the best Shadow of War experience we possibly can.

The core promise of the Nemesis System is the ability to build relationships with your personal allies and enemies in a dynamic open world. While purchasing Orcs in the Market is more immediate and provides additional player options, we have come to realize that providing this choice risked undermining the heart of our game, the Nemesis System. It allows you to miss out on the awesome player stories you would have otherwise created, and it compromises those same stories even if you don’t buy anything. Simply being aware that they are available for purchase reduces the immersion in the world and takes away from the challenge of building your personal army and your fortresses. In order to fully restore the core promise of the Nemesis System, we’ll be permanently removing Gold, War Chests and the Market from Shadow of War. This means the option to purchase Gold with real-world money and the ability to gain Orc Followers from War Chests will be removed. There will be a specific amount of time given for players to utilize their unused Gold. If players have unused Gold by the end of the time allotted to spend it, any remaining Gold will be converted to in-game items.

Additionally, we’ll be updating the Shadow Wars section of the campaign, where players defend their fortresses against Sauron’s repeated counter-attacks. This portion of the game will be improved with new narrative elements and streamlined for a more cohesive experience. For players who choose to continue with these on-going fortress defense missions, the Endless Siege update released last November will still be available. We’ll also be incorporating many other gameplay improvements that will be detailed in future build notes, including Nemesis System updates, new player skins, skill tree additions, gear system upgrades and progression updates, just to name a few that we’re excited about.

Please note that the above updates are free for all Shadow of War owners. The ability to purchase Gold will permanently cease on May 8, 2018. The permanent removal of Gold, War Chests and the Market will take place on July 17, 2018, at the same time as all other updates discussed above.

The entire team here at Monolith appreciates our dedicated fans, and we feel that these improvements will provide all players with the very best Shadow of War gameplay experience. In the meantime, we’ll keep everyone informed throughout the process as we work through the details associated with these changes. We’ve also posted a FAQ as a reference to provide additional information.

Thank you again for your support, Monolith Productions

Following Battlefront's lead here, I dig it. Maybe one day I'll pick it back up from the bargain bin.

I never bought gold but I used the fuck out of it from community challenges. Great way to get beasties for pit fighting without me spending a dime. Curious what they'll replace it with

Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment today revealed the opening cinematic from the Desolation of Mordor Story Expansion, all-new downloadable content (DLC) coming to Middle-earth: Shadow of War on 18th May. The new video spotlights Baranor, the Captain of Minas Ithil, who has escaped the fallen city’s demise and is now reunited with his lost brother, Serka. I'm pretty excited for it. Normal man going HAM on orcs without super powers will be a nice change. Death could have been more of a consequence here but I dont mind how they are doing it. And a new difficulty for me to get pissed at is always fun.

The big update has arrived. Market and all micro transactions have been removed. New orcs can now be recruited by completing Online Vendettas and Ranked Conquest. Orcs can be trained and powered up by spending in-game currency. Level cap has been increased to 80. The epilogue has been heavily streamlined, including new narrations from Shelob and Talion. Reportedly, the streamlined part reduces the number of successful fortress defenses required for completion from 20 to 5. New prestige skills are unlocked after completing Act 3 when the big spoiler thing happens. Also, new free skin so you can play as Celebrimbor if you want. The Nemesis system has been upgraded with new Legendary Orcs to encounter. Followers will now occasionally show up and give you gifts. Also, you can now turn off the Savior feature in the menu if you want.

Also! On PS4 at least, there is now a free demo available. And until July 19th (tomorrow) the game is on sale for $20.

The game was definitely worth $20 even before this update, so I’d say now is a great time to pick this up if you’d been considering it.

It's only for the PS4version though, got it last night, there is a code for the "expansion pass" on the receipt. Worked perfectly.
Just a note though, the employee working there had no idea this promo was going on, so double check for the printed code before you walk out assuming you decide to buy.

Definitive Edition drops August 28th, includes all DLC. Sucks if you just missed the sale at GameStop. Also—all DLC is a NOT on the disc, instead you get a download code.
