Jesus, Sentinel Titan looks sick with that beefier Arc Blade-esque super and Orissa shield + skating.
I had the exact same though (Sentinel looks a lot like Bladedancer), but in a negative way. I think most people will agree that Bladedancer is one of the worst supers/subclasses. It has almost no utility in PvE (apart from cloak) and its super is nothing to really write home about. In the PvP footage, Sentinel looks pretty much the same -- a close-range melee attack with a lunge, the ability to do somewhat long-range attacks, and increased defense and regen on kills. We don't know how substantial the defensive buff and regen are, but combined with energy weapons, I can't see Sentinel as a really viable PvP class. That said, I think other aspects of the Sentinel kit will help it actually stand out in PvE (namely the ability to still throw down a bubble -- I could see them getting rid of Weapons of Light though, so players don't just hold onto their supers).
Also holding out hope that the people who have been saying it's an old build end up being correct in regards to skating.
Agreed, was generally commenting on PVE when I saw him drop the shield. From the Warlock video, it seems like it absorbs a pretty meaningful amount of damage; solid for covering your flank on add spawn corridors. Toss in the bubble and you've got a great home base generator for hectic fights.
The big difference between Sentinel and Arcblade is that Sentinel has a ranged attack (Razor's Edge doesn't count) and can block as they close in. It also doesn't have those bullshit random swing animations.
I think it looks really cool and if they're going to make me pick between Striker and Sentinel (no third subclass is mega-uncool), I'm leaning heavily towards Sentinel. It'll be in the beta so we can judge the PVP merits of the super then.
New crucible map in the area leading up to the Iron Temple. Also footage of Dawnbreaker and Striker/Sentinel from that site.
Edit: Why is everyone using autos in these videos? Even at ridiculous ranges? >.>
I see a sexy Omolon Scout! Looks like it's a faster RoF model though..
Lightning grenade (presumably) looks really different.
Shoulder Charge is no longer a one-shot. :D
Looks like Sentinel has Voidwall grenades.
In other, more important news -- D2 beta is up for download if you have it preordered. I believe this is the link you need.
Now if amazon would just send the needed code...
I've heard that some people just contacted Amazon customer support to get their codes.
^ Those are IGN videos btw...Not sure if it matters lol
Although, I've been told in the past by Sono that IGN Youtube videos are allowable, but prefer to avoid if possible.
Weekly Update:
https://www.bungie.net/en/News/Article/46062
Confirms six subclasses for the beta (with only access to half the nodes).
..and that's pretty much it.
Just downloaded the beta on PS4. Process is mega easy if you went with the digital download from PSN.
That newest video about the sound of destiny, has an amazing clip of arcstrider > sentinel. Also arcstrider has a ranged attack
