When the fuck did that happen? Jesus. That's a major blow to the Preds.
Cupchecked 1 too many times by Kesler amirite?
Disregard what I just said story just came up on tsn. Ouch.
When the hell did Johansen get hurt?!
Perds are fucked
Johansen ded and Fisher out with a concussion; we are so fucked. RyJo got hurt on a seemingly nothing hit; he immediately looked like he was in pain after.
Not even PK can overcome that
Perds were our only hope, now only evil can win
Sad for preds but yay for me
The trap isn't unbeatable. It also requires a lot of team discipline to execute properly which a lot of teams in the league lack.
It's just the fact that it slows the game down and usually, makes it boring. Yea, occasionally they blow a team up who can't adjust and turns over the puck constantly, and the counter-attacks can be enjoyable but the majority of the time it's just ugly hockey. New Jersey is just awful to watch, Ottawa isn't always as bad because Karlsson can be magical but still, I don't want to see more teams turn to the trap more often.
NJ has played that way forever though, and won cups doing it, and the league didn't shift to everyone playing the trap. (Or at least, I don't remember it haha.)
I dunno, I just take the position that no system is unbeatable and the trap in particular is pretty prone to good dump-ins and team speed. If more teams start playing it, more teams will start figuring out how to beat it. To me the boringness comes from teams playing right into the trap, which isn't necessarily the fault of the team playing the trap.
When the team playing the trap has a goalie who's remarkable at playing the Puck like Pekka it's quite a sound gig though. I hope more people play it so they find ways to counter it then have it fall into oblivion for a while.
Oh, what rule change was that? Or do you mean the trapezoid rule.
Wow so Ruhwedel gets high sticked then elbowed and no penalty.
