That hearing was sterling compared to what it would have looked like if it had been in front of the House Intel Committee. Other than Grandpa McCain forgetting to take his nap.
Thank you.
can i get a pic of your hot daughters
there, have a few more gray hairs
GOP says that Comey not shutting down the conversation immediately was wrong even if he was fired for it, because then obstruction is cut and dry.
Comey didn't shut down the conversation immediately because he didn't want Trump committing political suicide and having the GOP deal with the fallout.
So because Comey was looking out after both the GOP and the president, the GOP are using that to sow the appropriate doubt needed into the public's collective minds by saying that Comey was just looking out for his job.
That is some truly ruthless shit from the GOP.
And that is why they win.
reposting from hugbox across the aisle
ho~ly shit.
Honest question, it's been a long morning, was it somewhere in this thread or somewhere else I read that there was some confusion as to who exactly he gave the memo's to to officially release, and the person(s) that released them?
That NYT article doesn't reference memos at all that I see, but references two other sources with knowledge of the dinner.
I think where the confusion lies is that Comey leaked info (not the memos) to Benjamin Wittes, which Wittes discussed here: https://www.lawfareblog.com/what-jam...t-donald-trump
The memos themselves were a different leak from a different source (unnamed Columbia Law professor). Wittes makes no mention of any memos in his lawfareblog writeup, but I assume he was the source of the above NYT article. I assume he and Comey just had a discussion, then, after the Trump tweet, Comey leaked the actual memo contents. The timeline seems pretty straightforward. GOP is simply trying to muddy it up.
That tweet thing is confusing.
So Comey retaliated about tweets that aren't twatted until the day after his retaliation.
I'm sure the trump admin would have no issue locking up Comey if he leaked classified information.
There's a difference between the information contained in the memos leaking and the existence of said memos leaking. That's how the NYT article is pre-tweet but the memo release was afterwards.
One is just info, but after the tweet from Trump about tapes, Comey made it known that he had the receipts.
