Go to Vegas, get drunk, find Elvis. Boom. Done.

Seriously though. Like others have said a courthouse wedding is a good option. 1-2 witnesses to be there to see the certificate signing, and it's over. My wife and I didn't go all out on our rings until we'd been married for a while. Even then we only ended up spending a couple grand for the entire thing.

We live at the shore. Friend rented a nicer house on the beach and had food catered. 5k maybe? Another friend did destination, cost a ton less than ours. I think with everything we were 30k-35k. Don't be a bitch.

Somewhat disappointed this wasn't an Inshiya thread.

On topic- make the leap man. Tons of good suggestions to minimize the cost over the last few pages.

Me and my wife got married about 6 weeks ago in NYC. The marriage itself cost less than $100usd. You can decide for yourself how much you want to spend after that. We did end up getting her a ring made by a friend of mine who is a bespoke jeweler, which ended up being ~8500. She also wanted a new dress/shoes/hair/nails, total cost of our nyc wedding: ~10k

For my family, we did a bbq at my Dad's house on Long Island. For her family(She's Canadian, from Toronto), we're flying them in on points, and we have enough points for them to stay at a hotel in Times Square for 5 nights. For friends, we invited 20ish people out to Stillwell Park(A pretty large bar on 1st ave with great food) and bought everyone food, drinks on them.

Your mileage may vary, my wife and I are both Atheists and would never consider doing a church wedding, as much as my dad is mad about it. In the end, we decided it was our day, to do it the way we wanted.

As far as finacial stuff, I know you're Canadian so that may not apply, but I'm in the Ironworkers union in nyc and my health benefits automatically extend to my spouse at no cost to me. Everything else can be left up to a will.

You are flying how many people in and putting them up on points?

Every hotel in Times Square is ridiculous for point redemptions. Good on you saving up.

We were able to fly them all in on points, two sisters and parents. Parents will use the hotel, they're too batshit crazy to stay with us. Her sister's will stay with us in our apartment. Wife has a ton of points saved from all of her work travel, and we use credit cards that give the same points as the hotel chain she likes(SPG) so with all that combined we had more than enough.

If you don't really care, just try to find out if you can afford to do that for someone else (your wife, family) as most likely it's much more important to them

Uh, just tell your wife's parents that you are very traditional, meaning that they should pay for the wedding as a dowry.
