Our sources suggest that Origins is a vast open world experience taking place in ancient Egypt. The story is rumoured to revolve around the original assassin’s guild and will feature two main characters - a man and a woman.

Its structure is said to be less linear, featuring a character progression system less tied to the story. A development source we spoke to compared it numerous times to Bethesda’s Skyrim. They say that impressions of the project internally are so far positive.

The game will apparently grant the player considerably more freedom, featuring a greater emphasis on exploration over previous entries in the series.

Not only is Origins rumoured to boast an explorable ancient Egypt, players will also apparently be able to go beyond it - possibly even as far as Greece. We were told that boats will return in the game, allowing the player to sail the Mediterranean. Naval combat, naturally, is also said to be included.

I was really hoping this would be set in Roman Egypt, but its looking more and more likely that its set sometime in the 2nd or 3rd century BCE.

I think they mean to say less of a tunnel when it comes to how the story progresses. Like for instance skyrim has story but very little about the world changes when you complete things.

Maybe you're less of a main character in a sense. Like you go around completing assassinations as open world occurrences rather than instances.

Official Tease, Game will have "Live Services & Operations"

Martinez was asked if the new Assassin’s Creed would feature live services, and he mentioned that all of Ubisoft’s games will include live operations, even if there will be different types: the live operations of Ghost Recon are different from those of Rainbow Six, and will be different from the ones featured in the new Assassin’s Creed.

That being said, the philosophy of all the upcoming games will be to justify and bring live operations for a “long life, as long as its fits for the game.” The company is now aiming to achieve over 25% of its revenue coming from recurring player investment, and the new Assassin’s Creed will be included in that percentage.

I'm simply not a fan of season passes anymore. Companies have failed to keep content coming or they've been on the low low end of lackluster.

Agreed. If you want me to spend $30-$40 on a season pass, you'd better have some quality content ahead of you - at least two or three updates. Witcher 3 & Fallout 4 - big thumbs up. The Dragon Age games also had quality DLC as well. Most other games? Meh. I did pick up Assassin's Creed: Syndicate's season pass recently for under $10, and that was a good deal. But $30 for it? No thanks.

AC3, Black Flag, Unity, and Syndicate all put out pretty decent to really good DLC content. Their downfall with regards to DLC, in my opinion, has been a heavier focus on outfits, weapons, and paint by numbers fetch quests rather than sizeable story based content.

Black Flag had 1 substantial DLC and was turned into standalone content.

I think that's the downfall of a lot of DLC. Maybe I'm in the minority, but additional skins, weapons, or other useless doo-dads that don't actually add any content to the game's story, structure, or playtime don't do anything for me. A new jacket is neat, but doesn't actually give me anything to do. It's certainly not something I'm going to pay physical money for. Another 3-20 hours of gameplay? Sure, assuming the rest of the game was fun.

When I see something like this, my gut tells me we're getting less game so we can get charged for what should've been included in the core game. Pass.
