Hopefully we'll get some more bugfixes while we're at it. The stability patch earlier this week didn't seem to do much.

EDIT: Also question about elemental resistance. Does it help lower the duration of blights? Next time I farm Velk I need Ice res but most of my gear has a negative resistance so even with Ice Res 3 I won't be at the 20 sweet spot.

just eat a veggie platter with res 3 and you'll be immune to whatever blight a mob will throw at you

Ah right forgot about that. I usually do Attack (S) and Defense (M)

always eat for a large buff, regardless what it is. attack, resist, whatever.

And with Def/ATK values what they are now, usually elemental resist is your best bet, as nullifying some monster's blight makes them so much easier.

You know I've been meaning to ask. For lances I can't really see many with purple sharpness. Should I just go for raw damage and a find something with a good chunk of white instead?

You can do purple sharpness on a MT build for sure, you're just going to lose a chunk of utility to handicraft and having to wear Teostra gear lol.

Purple is great for not bouncing on certain things like metallic Ians, but so is wounding, and the difference in damage is "only" 1.32 to 1.39 multiplier.

Edit: Lance is kind of in the middle for raw vs element. GS uses raw, DB uses element, lance can do whatever the fuck it wants because the damage is super close either way.

Actually speaking of element how would element damage work if I fight a monster which is strong against said element? I was thinking of getting the Velk lance since it has higher base damage than what I currently have but wondering if it would be a detriment against ice based monsters.

Raw is completely independent of element, so if Velk has better raw it will do more damage even if the monster is immune to ice. Unless of course the monster is very weak to another element and a lance with almost as good raw and high element exists. Hell, if the monster is weak to thunder you may as well just plan to use raw, because thunder lances have low raw and pretty much nothing has a weakness to thunder with a low enough raw multiplier vs element multiplier.

Thanks. Haven't really looked much into elemental builds yet since I'm not a fan of doing builds til endgame. That and as much as I love kiranico no sort/filter option makes it annoying to do any looking around.

I'm not even planning to bother with elemental builds for lance. It really takes a huge amount of effort for very little potential reward. I'd much rather focus elemental builds towards weapons that benefit more from it, like bow, IG or DBs.

This is what I consider the console raw meta. Play around with it as you will (if yall pc players aren't aware, geologist makes it so when a shiny falls off a mob in the grinding lands two shinnies fall instead).

1) did the latest bugfix actually ensure my saves won't get corrupted / CPU won't catch fire

2) all of Iceborne is post endgame content yee? i'm HR 12 and in the midst of this Nergigante business in the high rank quest chain can i even access the Iceborne yet or must need i grind rank / quests ?

Yes to 2, need to be HR16
