Tobikadachi fucked my shit up with dual blades and I was even using the madness pangas from jyuratodus. Switched to bow after fainting and wrecked him and now I have the pulsar bow.

I'm so bad at fighting close range in this game lmao.

Dual Blades are high risk, high reward. They can do insane damage but you need to know your target well or you will get KOed easy from animation locks.

Pretty sure GS or the top tier spread HBGs will do more in the same amount of time.

Yeah I'll probably give hammer another go but I'll probably stick with bow since I'm so bad at this game. If anything I guess sns will be my next attempt as melee since it's so forgiving to learn monster habits.

All weapons take time to get used to. Reason I like lance is it's fairly easy to pick up but difficult to master when it comes to using evasion over blocking/when to counter/etc.

Also Jho lance get. Now to upgrade it.

Fun is coming for the PC crowd with Lunastra this week. If you've never seen the weapons they're pretty dope, especially the Xeno branch with innate Razor Sharp/Spare Shot. Works wonders for fast hitting weapons like SnS, DB, and SA.

Hit a Barroth enough times in the head with a Hammer and you'll eventually break part of his head off. I don't think it does more damage after the break, but you can carve the chunk that falls off and it boosts drop rates of specific parts. Hammer is the only weapon I've seen do that, though I have a feeling the Hunting Horn can potentially do the same.

Hammer, HH, SnS, GS, and Bow can all deal Blunt damage and potentially break Barroth's head.

I only did it two or three times for the novelty, all Barroth drops are common enough to not be really worth it.

Blunt kinsects and CB shield slams deal blunt too I believe. (Impact phials are ironically more like explosive damage).

The reality though is that you'll probably only see Barroth's head break with a hammer or HH in the group.

Blunt kinsect yeah, but CB has no form of blunt damage (afaik) even tho Impact Phials can KO.

It's pretty easy to break Barroth's head with a Bow, but like said it's not really worth it since Barroth armor is pretty poopy and most of the weapons are simply ignored.

Yeah, the shield slam is what I'm not 100% on. I know it applies phial damage if the shield is charged, but I don't know for sure what the damage type of the attack itself is.

The shield thrust does not deal blunt.

Exhaust Phial Switch Axe and Impact Charge Blades can both KO, but are incapable of blunt damage.

I have three weapon types I use. DB Switch Axe and Hammer. I picked up hammer as I wanted to add Blunt damage to my friends and my group. It's fun but really has about two moves worth using lol. Also if you are sliding on a hill most weapons have a jump attack. Hold charge on your hammer and you do what I call "spinning slam of doom" (dont know attack names lol) but it can be a lot of quick blunt damage to the head and sometimes even mount.

The spinning aerial attack (also known as the Nergi-stroying Technique of Doom) is not only powerful, but highly addictive. It's the most playful thing of an otherwise very cerebral weapon, which normally deals with charging around and unleashing at the right time to the predicted movement of the head.

Okay I found my happy place with bow and ls. I swap between them like every mission. Game is a blast starting to do well and I'm not even abusing barrels and sleep and shit.

That's a good habit to develop.
It's polite to have/use that stuff in pugs for time reasons, but you want to not use those things if you wanna git gud.

Haven't seen anyone talk about Arc-tempered Xeno. Looks like a good LBG fight, but really crappy for melee.

Once you get the basics down the game does become hella fun.

Also I'm close to fiendish tower. I just need to hunt Jho/Neg 1 more time each if I'm lucky.
