Just got finished viewing it. Only was able to look during Totality since i didn't have any glasses. Took a crappy video too.
It was beautiful.
Watching it live, it's happening live now in South Carolina, Columbia. Everyone's cheering and stuff. Really cool.
The coolest part of this was the penumbral shade and the wildlife having no idea how to function without the sun. Crickets were out the same time as the squirrels, everything was making all kinds of noise. Hope none of those poor bastards got eaten for that show, rofl
sad that we only got 80% in DC oh well was dope to see
Couldn't notice anything from NY, was cloudy to begin.
got to see about 98% here in raleigh, was super cool
trippy shadows on my porch rn
We used welding masks here at our office in the Bronx to view it. Was neat. Think it was around 75% or something?
We were supposed to get 80% in the Philly area but it wasn't even close to that. One of my coworkers has a special camera where we can see it well and it didn't even cover half the sun at the supposed peak time (2:44pm ET). It doesn't even seem like it got much darker out.
It's been cloudy and I only got a few brief glimpses, but it was pretty cool nonetheless. Hopefully I'll catch a full one one of these days.
Didn't get to see much of it due to being in Florida and cloud cover. Oh well. It broke up the monotony of just another Monday.
Totally fogged in here no photos no eclipse. Oh well there will be at least one more in my life time.
Clouds parted literally for 2-3 minutes with totality in between, here in Charleston. Worth every minute of the 6+ hour drive. Absolutely amazing
So many people in literal tinfoil hats
Even though it was something like 89% in Chicago, the entire Loop district was packed full of people on their "lunch break" watching (including myself..) at every block. I found it more interesting to see all these people out at once looking at the same spot in the sky - felt like Independence Day.
I brought my shield home after work and viewed from the East River by Gracie Mansion. Was really fun. The best part was getting to meet a lot of people just by nature of sharing the mask with people who had no other way to view it, lots of really nice appreciative peeps.
The worst part was the grandma-tier ladies who kept reminding me that they read that "The news said you shouldn't use 'welding glasses'".
I was in the totality and it was fab. 10/10 would recommend
So I had planned to travel to this beautiful obscure state park in southern illinois with my girlfriend and kids. We get packed up, then I pull up facebook to show my girlfriend where we are going, and I find out that it had to close the night previously due to overcrowding. I thought it may get some traffic, but nothing like it did. This was well away from most of the big places that expected large influxes of people.
Made a last minute change and called up a friend. He had a mom that lived in the middle of the totality zone. She has a massive back yard so we detoured and headed there. It was fucking amazing. Words cannot describe the totality. I had heard the difference between 99% (where my house is) and 100% is a massive difference, and I can see why. The difference when there's even a small sliver of sun from the complete 100% totality is almost literally night and day. I would say it's a once in a lifetime experience, but my region gets another total in 2024. So fuck yeah. Next time I guess I need to expect to camp out 4 days ahead of time. I took a timelapse, i'll upload it later.
Totality is pretty much the tightest shit ever, partial eclipses suck total ass. There's no comparison whatsoever.
Went to Clemson to watch, totality was amazing.
Drive back to Florida now... Rip
On my way home from Weiser Idaho. Full totality is awesome. Still need to crop and process photos
Spoilered for Huge
