Taken on a GoPro that shoots super wide angle, so no super cool corona pics.

It was only the second time I had used the timelapse feature, there was probably some way to speed up the shutter speed and not blow out the sun. Just wasn't sure how.

It's my birthday and I got loaded with jokes about being the "darkest" in my section and a literal eclipse happening to celebrate it. Was pretty cool actually seeing and gawking at it with random people in Queens.

What I learned today: 100% totality solar eclipses are not overrated in the slightest. We watched under crystal blue skies from the Capital Mall in front of Oregon's capital building with a few thousand others. It felt like something out of a movie or video game that's just too over the top to believe, but it was in real life. It was truly remarkable, and something I'll never forget.

Also confirmed: The difference between 99% and 100% is greater than the difference between 99% and 0%. It was really hard to see much light difference up until a couple of minutes before totality, and then it all changed in seconds. If you're nearby for an eclipse and thinking "95% is probably good enough," you're wrong. Unless you know you're looking for it, you probably wouldn't even notice the change. You might notice the shadows, but the experience is entirely different. It's worth a trip if you can make it.

Clouds all cleared and we had a flawless sky throughout totality and almost all of the partial. I'm glad I took the day off for this; we found a remote spot, no humans in sight, no sounds but insects, and 155 seconds of totality.
