I think it honestly comes down to the 2018 pick. Remove that and it's solid deal on both sides imo (have to remember IT has only a year left and wants a max deal, Kyrie still has two left).

Kyrie also 4 years younger. I mean this celtics team gonna be young as fuck forever aside from Horford

And that IT is old and coming off a significant hip injury. No guarantee he's ever as good as last year again

    wtf really?

Man it's gotta be really odd for IT to bloom into a star as late into his career as he is, eh?

edit: actually only 3 years (and 1.5 months) younger, but yeah. Can't believe Kyrie is only 25, feels like he's been around a while.

He was hyped pretty hard in college.

Can we also talk about how Cleveland saved 30 mil with this deal as well. Literally wins everywhere.

My only worry is maybe the Celtics doctors know something about IT's hip that we don't.

I think the fair assumption is that IT will still be good next year but not last year's level. If he plays like last year he's almost as good offensively as Kyrie and they picked up Crowder.

If he isn't right, the Cavs let him walk and have the Brooklyn pick to start the rebuild. Smart teams won't be paying IT the max next summer no matter how well he plays.

Overall I think it went about as well as it could for Cleveland with their limited leverage and dual goals of competing this year but being ready to pivot for rebuild

The worst part of all this is that the Knicks lost out on Kyrie and will most likely overpay for an injured IT next offseason.

    SUCH IS LIFE

Fair point, he won't be solely responsible for the offense like he was in Boston. Worried about that hip tho

thomas is gonna have a great time not having to be the only guy to carry the offense. love is gonna have a great time getting more involved in the offense as well without kyrie being the focal point.

and lastly lebron's gonna have a great time playing with someone who believes in science
