As a west coaster, even I know calling a grill a BBQ is an insult to traditional Southern Style BBQ. Smokers > Grills any day.

They do different things, there is no single > or <.
After owning a pellet smoker I'll never own a gas grill ever and will probably never use a charbroil grill again.
I don't give a single fuck about what idiots call things.
BBQ and a barbecue are two different things.
Also, grill snobs are the worst shit ever. Barbecue your shit and fuck off.
this thread is surprisingly unsettling
good lord have mercy
Building a grill/bbq island when we finish the landscaping this year on our new house. Definitely going with a gas grill (and extra side burner) plus a smoker so I can have the best of both worlds as needed. Looking at this Egg clone on Amazon for my smoking needs as I'm too cheap to pay $$$ for an official big green egg.

The eggs make great BBQ but require much more work to get it right. A pellet smoker on the other hand is really easy since you set it and can safely leave without worrying about what your tempature is at. Both achieve the same results, one is just less mainenemce while cooking. When you're doing a 14hr cook on a pork butt you don't always want to baby it the entire time.
Definitely true, but for now I will have to make that a positive and not a negative...
"Sorry honey, I'm stuck out here watching the ribs all day."
Sips drink, ignores rest of world while meat smokes
