Aladdin (May 24, 2019) - A Guy MotherFucking Richie Film

ROJ was the pilot for the television series, basically. It has some good music but the plot is very silly, plus Homer voices Genie and, while not awful it wasn't necessarily great either.

I think one of the biggest problems with these movies is the original animation characters are more, well animated. Take a look at the obvious one here. Aladdin meets him. Genie casually walks towards him asking "You know who I am?" The original? Genie appears to Aladdin MASSIVELY sized compared as this intimidating creature, then shows to be lovable and funny. This isn't just in the wonderful Robin Williams voice. It's the motion, the movement, the face. You don't get that with CG. Another. Compare the "I want to be like you" in Jungle Book. The best of all of these films. The remake? He's barely moving, casually singing with little emotion. The original? He's dancing. He's smiling. He's all around making you feel exactly what they want. You just don't get that same feeling from the dull bare movements of CG.

I listened to that song all night just yesterday, agreed that it's easily one of the greatest songs featured in Disney movies. For the most part, the Disney live-action movies get the same reaction as animated series turned live-action from me, that being "why?".

There are a lot of things that are cheaper to produce and just look much better when animated, unless you have the budget and the manpower. And even then, I'd wager that much of the stuff that looks great when animated still feels out of place when put into a live-action movie. Same reason I don't get the appeal of live-action Anime movies, really.
