I have yet to give any fucks about live action Disney films... but this might do it.
Looks potentially awesome. Hope very much it's actually awesome.
I don't see enough to get excited. It is more of an ambience trailer
Please, PLEASE, have the amazing Guy Ritchie cuts. Even King Arthur had a "Snatch" like sequence
Thought that was Oscar Isaac as Aladdin for a sec.
I just can't bring myself to watch this knowing it won't be Robin Williams' voice as the Genie.
Wondering if this Genie will be 4th-wall breaking or if they'll make it more "real." Like, since they have Will Smith, seems like wasted potential not to have him reference Fresh Prince somehow.
The guy who plays Genie in the Aladdin broadway show is pretty damn awesome. So yes, Robin Williams will be missed, but it has been proven that others can be the Genie without it being blasphemous.
Heretic.
Nah Anoat is right. I've seen some of the assorted live shows of Aladdin and it's fine with a different Genie. Granted movies and the stage are different beasts, but it will probably be a-ok with Will Smith in the role assuming he brings the right energy.
To be honest, I haven’t seen the original Aladdin in god knows how long and I forget from time to time Robin Williams was ever the genie to begin with. I don’t think the role is as synonymous with an individual as say James Earl Jones is to Mufasa.
Let me tell y'all I don't often get chills over silly shit, but at Disney World when they are doing their nighttime fireworks some of it is laser projected onto the castle and in the night sky and they do a projection of Mufasa and next thing you know James Earl Jones voice is booming thru every speaker in the park going "REMEMBER WHO YOU ARE...." and god damn does it do it to me.
Opposite for me. Jones is the perfect voice for Mufasa. But Williams IS the genie. The whole character is written exactly for him, and he's one of a kind.
