Pasta is sticking it out with the American Psycho sig. Nevar change BG
lol
nevar forget they traded a 3rd and 4th to trade up to draft him
Highest drafted kicker since 2005 lmao.
And now his botch is ended
I still can't get it out of my head how bad that pick was. Even if he was a top 5 kicker it would have been a fucking terrible pick.
I challenge anyone to come up with a worse draft pick based on the moment it was made (i.e. it doesn't count if someone was a bust but thought to be a decent pick at the time)
I dunno, given his track record in college I feel like it could be defended at the time. His accuracy was obscene
However good he was in college, using a 2nd round pick let alone trading up for it was dumb. I really feel for the guy but at the end of the day it's a business decision and also this week's episode of Hard Knocks is gonna be LIT.
If they wanted him that early they didn't need to trade up.
The issue with Aguayo was how they traded up, not necessarily that they took him in the second round.
Gotta be worried about all those kickers flying off the board in the 2nd mang
he's a kicker, they bounce around all over the place. he'll be fine
as for bad picks, the only one i can think of is there was a college QB who was like 6'6 who went into the draft as a WR, he was a first round pick for the jaguars and was out of the league in like two years. only mentioning him because he was a first round pick who people were pretty unsure of
something jones i think
edit: matt jones, lasted 3 years
It doesn't matter. There's no guarantee he'll be as good in the pros, and even if he was, he's still a kicker. Very little separates NFL kickers and they're inconsistent year to year. One of the most replaceable positions in the NFL. So many more valuable positions to spend a pick on. Given the salaries, 2ND round picks are one of the most valuable commodities a team has. To spend one on a kicker, in this period of superior analytics, is stupefying.
He came to mind but at least he lasted a long time. Jags spent like a 3rd or 4th on a punter, Pat Angerer(?). Also up there.
Ah yes, the great Matt Jones. While a bust, he was a freak athlete in the combine and WRs have high positional value. High risk-high reward pick that busted. Not the same stratosphere as Aguayo.
And yeah, I wouldn't be shocked to see Aguayo sign somewhere else and be fine after leaving the high expectations behind.
Reddit reminded me of a worse draft pick then Agauyo, incidentally also made by the Bucs.
They drafted Bo Jackson after he specifically said he wouldn't play for them. There was also that time they drafted the wrong player because of miscommunication over the phone.
