Nuclear's problem is that it doesn't have passionate grass roots supporters (because they are wary of multi-billion projects) or big money (because there is no "big nuclear" lobby) so they don't have a natural constituency.

It's already been brought up but it's quite unfortunate that "the left" is collectively seen as the party of identity politics/SJW's now by the general public. I still believe that identity politics caused what is probably the biggest upset in a presidential election in history and will continue to bleed voters from the dems in future elections.
